Star Wars Hayden Christensen Addresses Kelly Marie Trans Online Harassment

Kelly Marie Tran recently spoke publicly about the online harassment that eventually drove her off of social media, now a fellow Star Wars alum has some advice. Hayden Christensen knows a little bit about dealing with the ire of Star Wars fans, and when recently asked about what Tran was going through, he tried to remind her that the ones making the loudest noise are a minority of the people out there. According to Christensen...

I don't know if I have any advice for that, but just...you know, don't take it too seriously, because...unfortunately, [bullies] are the ones that make the most noise. But the majority of people don't feel that way, so, keep that in mind.

Hayden Christensen clearly feels a bit awkward answering the question from ET Canada, because it's always difficult to talk about how somebody else should handle a particular situation, but he tries to offer something that clearly is part of what he learned from a similar experience. Several months ago Kelly Marie Tran disappeared from social media and last week she published an op-ed in the New York Times in which she confirmed the reason for her departure was the harassment she had received online from people critical of her character in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

While social media didn't exist in the same form two decades ago that it does now, it's a safe bet that, if it had, Hayden Christensen would have received similar treatment. He almost certainly did receive some bullying from those who had problems with the Star Wars prequels. It seems no corner of those movies was safe from some. Ahmed Best who played Jar Jar Binks recently revealed that he considered suicide as a result of the harassment he endured being in those films. Jake Lloyd who played the younger version Anakin Skywalker also was the victim of harassment.

While those with a bone to pick can certainly be loud, Hayden Christensen doesn't feel they represent the majority opinion and remembering that is his advice to Kelly Marie Tran. There's certainly some truth to that as the outpouring of support for Tran both after she left social media and since she made her public statement has been strong. Most notably, her Star Wars co-stars have backed her up, as have countless fans.

One of the great benefits of social media is the way that it can connect people, including connecting actors with their fans. It's a shame when the voices of some force people to have to step away from that connection for their own health. We will certainly see Kelly Marie Tran again in the forthcoming Star Wars Episode IX regardless of what the bullies think. What the future holds for Hayden Christensen in the Star Wars universe, if anything, remains to be seen.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is like a big onscreen superhero family that just keeps on growing with each film. As is the case in many families, some of the younger, newer members get picked on and teased by their older (and in this case, more tenured) co-stars. This is especially true for Spider-Man actor Tom Holland, who, as the MCU's youngest hero, has to deal with some older brother-type teasing from his fellow heroes, especially Falcon actor Anthony Mackie. But every once in a while, the little brother fights back. So when Anthony Mackie recently revealed that he still hasn't seen Spider-Man: Homecoming, Tom Holland was ready with a zinger in return. Anthony Mackie is hilarious here at ACE Comic Con (via dea on Twitter), dunking on Tom Holland by brushing off Spider-Man: Homecoming with an air of 'pssh, why would I see that?' and throwing major shade at the hero's lauded MCU return. Little did Anthony Mackie know that Tom Holland had one in the chamber. You can see the wheels turning in Tom Holland's head in the video, as he too was either formulating his comeback or was trying to decide whether or not to say it. After all, not thinking before he speaks in the past has been a foe equal to the Sinister Six for the young actor. Thankfully, proving he really is Spider-Man, Tom Holland lets loose with a quip remarking on the non-existent Falcon movie, like saying 'at least I have a movie to ignore.'

Anthony Mackie has said he doesn't need a solo movie in the past, but this retort is still a stinger. Spidey may not be the most powerful or most seasoned hero in the MCU, but he always punches above his weight. Spider-Man is still relatively new to the MCU, so Tom Holland hasn't acted opposite a lot of the other heroes for lengthy amounts of time. He has mainly interacted with Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark. But given the fun, brotherly dynamic between Tom Holland and Anthony Mackie, I would be all in for Falcon making an appearance in the next Spider-Man movie, like he did in the first Ant-Man. These two didn't interact in Avengers: Infinity War, as Spidey was on the Titan team and Falcon was on the Wakanda team, but maybe they'll get a chance to team-up and rib each other in the future.

We now know a little bit more about what the future for Tom Holland's Spider-Man will entail too. Notorious blabbermouth Tom Holland revealed the title of the next Spider-Man movie this past weekend to be Spider-Man: Far From Home. Kevin Feige has said this title has multiple meanings, so let the speculation begin. We also know that Jake Gyllenhaal is in talks to play the villain Mysterio in the film. Much of Phase 4 remains a mystery, but as the first film out of the gate post-Avengers 4, we are slowly gaining more clarity about Peter Parker's sophomore solo adventure in the MCU.

Chris Pratt Promises Avengers: Endgame Really Delivers

As anyone whos closely followed Avengers: Endgame news knows, most, if not all, of the Marvel Cinematic Universe characters seen being dusted at the end of Avengers: Infinity War will be seen in some form or fashion during Avengers: Endgame. Some of said characters are already confirmed to be returning to the land of the living, whereas with others, like Chris Pratts Star-Lord, their involvement is still shrouded in secrecy. Still, Pratt is privy to all sorts of juicy details about Endgame, and he assures fans that it will be everything theyre hoping for and more. As he put it:

I am a vault of information that would break the internet...everything it promises in the previous movie, it delivers on and so much more.

Marvel is notoriously strict on making sure its actors dont drop spoilers to the public, though there are instances where things still manage to slip through the cracks (Im looking at you, Tom Holland and Mark Ruffalo). Nevertheless, Chris Pratt understandably and wisely kept quiet about Avengers: Endgame specifics during his appearance on Good Morning America, but he outright stated that the Phase 3 capper wont fail to deliver on what Avengers: Infinity War set up and will deliver even more goodies during its runtime. With a movie this big, thats good to hear, and were only several months away from learning if Pratts assurances are correct.

While each MCU movie has been action-packed and full of its own surprises, Avengers: Infinity War is thus far the most momentous and impactful movie of this franchise. Six years after he smirked at the camera in The Avengers, Thanos finally stepped into the spotlight and successfully gathered all six Infinity Stones, allowing him to finally achieve his dream of bringing forth true balance." With the snap of his fingers, the Mad Titan wiped out half of all life in the universe, and the survivors could only sit/stand in shock as those around them turned to dust. Star-Lord, a.k.a. Peter Quill, was among those who disappeared, uttering a simple Oh, man before fading away after his fellow Guardians of the Galaxy, Mantis and Drax.

As for Avengers: Endgame, even with one trailer and a TV spot to chew on, there are very few official details we know about the movie. People are coping with the changed status quo, and the Avengers, alongside heroes like Rocket Raccoon, Ant-Man and Captain Marvel, will somehow initiate a plan they believe will fix everything. Unofficially, theres been no shortage of speculation about how Earths Mightiest Heroes will undo Thanos genocide, with time travel and the Quantum Realm being among the most popular guesses. If you thought the Avengers: Infinity War marketing was secretive, Endgame is taking it to a whole new level.

We cant say for certain yet if Star-Lord will be brought back to life during Avengers: Endgame, although since Chris Pratt recently said that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is still happening with everyone on board, thats a good bet that well see him again adventuring across the galaxy. However Endgame unfolds, it will definitely be the end of an era, with some heroes possibly exiting the MCU for good and other heroes taking over as the main representatives of the franchise. So needless to say theres a lot of hype and anticipation surrounding Endgame, but if were to believe what Pratt has said, we neednt worry about getting great payoff.
