It's a well-known fact that Justice League evolved considerably over the course of its development, numerous set pieces changed as the film neared its release, but now original director Zack Snyder has taken to social media to fill in the gaps of what the film almost looked like. In fact, in his latest comment to a fan post, Snyder decided to explain an early mockup of the final Justice League battle to fans, in which Batman would've operated a massive parademon anti-aircraft gun. Though some of Zack Snyder's Vero posts have shown fully-shot sequences from Justice League that didn't make it into the final cut, this particular comment on a fan post seems to reveal something far earlier in Justice League's development. In the nascent stages of the DC film's life, there was going to be a moment in which The Caped Crusader got his hands on a massive piece of parademon artillery to use against the invading forces -- presumably in the final Russia sequence. Batman is the greatest tactician in the DC mythos, so it would make quite a bit of sense for him to want to get his hands on something with the ability to turn the tide in such a substantial way.
Of course, even though Batman never uses a parademon anti-aircraft gun in the battle against Steppenwolf, he does still manage to get his hands on some alien weaponry in Justice League. Specifically, he grabs a parademon rifle and uses it to take down the bug-like aliens while the more powerful members of the league go head-to-head against the Steppenwolf in the fight for the Mother Boxes. Given the fact that every movie in the DCEU has built off of the previous films in some form or another, it's worth wondering if any of this scattered alien technology will eventually make its way into Bruce's Batcave or his Batmobile.
With all of that said, we're left to wonder when this sequence eventually found itself omitted from the Justice League production process. As previously stated, the film evolved quite a bit from the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice to its formal premiere, with Joss Whedon providing a large number of changes when he replaced Zack Snyder in the director's chair. Now that the film's release has come and gone, it seems reasonable to assume that we may never know exactly what this cut sequence would've looked like with Ben Affleck's Batman in front of the camera.
