Lady Gagas A Star Is Born Music Video Kind Of Ruins The Movies Best Scene

The social media buzz surrounding Bradley Cooper's debut directorial effort, A Star Is Born, has been significant. The trailer received a whopping 10 million views on YouTube. Bot ready to be outdone, the first official music video off of the movie's soundtrack, "Shallow," dropped on Lady Gaga's YouTube page, and it has tallied 7.2 million views to date... and counting. I'll post it below, but I will also warn you that watching that video kind of ruins one of the best moments in A Star Is Born, so you might want to skip the embed and just read why it's better to avoid it.

The timing of the release of the soundtrack for A Star Is Born is significant. It's poised to drop on the same day that the movie opens, and that's largely because the songs in the movie tell the story of starcrossed lovers Jackson (Bradley Cooper) and Ally (Lady Gaga). Listening to the songs ahead of time will almost chart the course for the movie -- not that originality is a calling card for a movie that, yes, has been made three times prior to Cooper's new effort.

We're going to dive into real spoilers for A Star Is Born now, so back away if you really don't want to know anything.

But the trailer for "Shallow" is particularly revelatory, as it captures a moment in the movie where Ally first overcomes her fear and steps on stage with Jackson to perform one of her original songs. Prior to this point, she's only briefly revealed her talents to him. He knows what a gifted artist she is, but she isn't ready to spill those details yet. So he kind of forces her hand by starting to play a composition of her song during one of his concerts. And you can see the range of emotions dancing across Gaga's face in the movie, and in the music video.

But truthfully, it's far more effective when you see it play out in context in the moments of A Star Is Born. Just don't tell that to the millions of people who have enjoyed the music video for "Shallow" before seeing the movie.

A Star Is Born is making its way to theaters as we speak. Select AMC Theaters will allow you to see the movie as early as Wednesday, though it will be available everywhere on October 5. We would advise you to pick a theater that is screening the movie in Dolby Atmos, as Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga poured their hearts and souls into the sound of this film. Deadpool 2 Writer Responds To Villain Rumor

From what was shown in the most recent Deadpool 2 trailer, much of the movie's conflict will stem from Wade Wilson trying to prevent Cable from killing a pyrokinetic mutant kid, as well as the looming threat of the mysterious DMC organization. But as far as traditional super villains go, the only one we know about so far is Black Tom Cassidy, who will be played by The Strain star Jack Kesy. Last week, it was rumored that Black Tom Cassidy had been cut from Deadpool 2 entirely, but Rhett Reese, one of the movie's co-writers, went on Twitter today and shot down that claim. As he bluntly responded to an article about the rumor:

There you have it, folks. The rumor suggesting that Black Tom Cassidy may have been cut from Deadpool 2 isn't true, and we'll still see Jack Kesy in the Merc with the Mouth's latest big screen adventure. Nevertheless, aside from the report of Kesy was joining Deadpool 2, we haven't learned anything about how his character is being used in the sequel. Black Tom Cassidy is a recurring X-Men antagonist in the comics, but it's hard to tell how he would fit into Deadpool 2 based on what's been shown so far. Well, just because he's still expected to appear doesn't mean we'll necessarily see a lot of him in the movie.

Collider has heard from its sources that in Jack Kesy's role in Deadpool 2's final cut has been reduced. Apparently he had a bigger presence in earlier cuts of the movie, but in the finished product that hits the big screen next month, that's been cut down. Presumably this came as a result of the test screenings, as those in attendance reportedly wanted to see more of Josh Brolin's Cable and Zazie Beetz's Domino. So if those two characters were given more scenes during the reshoots, it would make sense if this came at the expense of Kesy's screen time.

In the comics, Black Tom Cassidy was originally able to generate concussive blasts via any wooden medium, but his mutant ability later expanded to manipulating energy through plants. Outside of the comics, he's only appeared in a few episodes of X-Men: The Animated Series, so his appearance in Deadpool 2 would introduce him to a lot of people unfamiliar with the comics. Alas, assuming this latest update is correct, don't expect him to be a major player in the proceedings.

Deadpool 2 opens in theaters on May 18. That Time Benedict Cumberbatch Got Kicked Really Hard On The Set Of Doctor Strange

In November 2016, Doctor Strange took the Marvel Cinematic Universe by storm by introducing Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen Strange. The film became a hit by embracing action, comedy, and magic in ways that the MCU had never done before, but the process wasn't an easy one for everyone involved. In fact, in a recent interview, Doctor Strange actor Scott Adkins opened up and revealed that he nailed Cumberbatch in the chest while filming one of the movie's standout fight scenes where the two were fighting while running up a building. Adkins explained how they were filming the same scene over and over again and he wasn't hitting the mark, until a series of unfortunate events led to him totally kicking the other actor. He said:

Benedict's such a lovely guy. But there's a bit where we run up the wall, and the first thing I do is jump onto a banister. I have to jump off the banister and 'kick' Benedict in the chest. We're on about the 10th take, and I've either missed or not hit him hard enough... lots of pressure. On the 10th take, I could see the faces are dropping a bit, and I'm like 'Oh fuck it, I'm just gonna have to go for it.' Benedict probably thought, 'Oh I'm going to help him out a little bit here by coming a little closer for his kick.' And I smashed him, hard, in the chest. And he went back, and he smashed off the banister with his back. And I do remember thinking, 'Easy Scott, that was a little bit too hard there, mate.' But he was great. He was fine about it.

The scene in question takes place toward the end of Doctor Strange's second act when Kaecilius (Mads Mikkelsen) and his goons stage an all-out assault on the Sanctum Sanctorum. Benedict Cumberbatch and Scott Adkins got to exchange some impressive fake blows during the fight sequence, but in his comments on the Empire podcast, Akins revealed that the pressure of filming the scene led to one kick getting a bit too real during a later take. Luckily, Cumberbatch was fine and seemed to take the whole thing in good spirits, at least per what Scott Adkins said.

The good news is that the final product came off without a hitch, and you can check out a clip from that badass fight sequence, below!

Despite how painful this whole ordeal sounds for Benedict Cumberbatch, there's also a sense that things might not get any easier for The Sorcerer Supreme going forward. Stephen Strange will appear in Avengers: Infinity War and play an integral role in the battle against Thanos (Josh Brolin) and The Black Order, so much of the marketing material for the film seemingly suggests that the mystic hero will find himself put through a physical and mental wringer -- particularly in his conflict with Ebony Maw. Cumberbatch himself has also hinted at the possibility of Strange's death, so we will have to keep an eye out for all of the pain that the character (and by extension, the actor) may go through as the next Marvel story unfolds.

Stephen Strange will make his next appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe later this month when Avengers: Infinity War debuts in theaters on April 27.
