Ant-Man And The Wasp Almost Had A Different Look For Janet Van Dyne

While it was released almost two months ago, Marvel fans and cinephiles haven't stopped discussing Peyton Reed's Ant-Man and The Wasp. The most recent installment in the MCU, Scott Lang's second movie made Hope Pym a bonafide superhero of her own, and also introduced new characters like Michelle Pfeiffer's Janet van Dyne. Janet spent years trapped in the Quantum Realm, with Ant-Man 2 largely focusing on her rescue mission, as well as the connection to mysterious new villain Ghost. Janet was forever changed by the Quantum Realm, and now a new concept art shows a vastly different costume for Pfeiffer's character. Check it out.

Does anyone else have chills? While Janet van Dyne looked super cool in Ant-Man and The Wasp, this alternate costume design might have put her over the top to complete badass territory. Let's break down the differences in the two costumes, as well as their implications for Michelle Pfeiffer's new Marvel character.

This new image comes to us from artist Jackson Sze, who is in the Marvel Studios art department, having worked on a ton of MCU blockbusters starting with The Avengers. This new image of Janet van Dyne highlights her long run in the Quantum Realm, a timeline not really explained throughout Ant-Man 2's runtime. A torn and tattered version of the original Wasp costume, this outfit would have shown the hard time Janet really had while she was away.

Ultimately, Michelle Pfeiffer's character came out of her decades in the Quantum Realm not looking very worse for the wear. She had fashioned a more muted costume, and gained a variety of abilities due to her long exposure in the mysterious setting. Janet is surprisingly put together in Ant-Man and The Wasp, and the above costume would definitely tell a different story for Hope's mother and Hank's wife.

Janet van Dyne definitely made a splash in Ant-Man and The Wasp, and Batman fans were especially excited to see Michelle Pfeiffer back in a comic book movie. The character also looks like she might have some legs for the Ant-Man franchise, seemingly becoming part of the group in the film's mid-credits scene. There's just one thing in Janet's way: Thanos' finger snap of death. We'll have to see if/how those killed by Thanos will be returned in Avengers 4, or if Janet's tenure in the MCU has ended before it began.

Ant-Man and The Wasp is still in theaters now. The next installment in the MCU is Captain Marvel on March 8, 2019. In the meantime, check out our 2018 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.

Godzilla: King Of The Monsters Has Original Tracks From Bear McCreary And System Of A Down's Serj

Few cinematic events call for music to rock out to more than giant monsters destroying cities and fighting each other. The upcoming Godzilla: King of the Monsters will have a lot of giant monsters battling for supremacy, and it needs a soundtrack worthy of that level of wild destruction. Fortunately, the soundtrack for Godzilla: King of the Monsters has enlisted some top tier talent to do just that.

Bear McCreary, who has scored all manner of genre properties, from 10 Cloverfield Lane to The Walking Dead to the most recent God of War game, is composing the soundtrack for the sequel film. For one particularly special track, he teamed up with System of a Downs frontman Serj Tankian.

The two joined forces for a cover of Blue yster Cults classic Godzilla from the bands fifth album, 1977s Spectres. The playful and campy hard-rock tribute to the king of the monsters became one of Blue yster Cults biggest hits, and bands like Fu Manchu and The Smashing Pumpkins have covered it over the years. The song now stands as a fun piece of Godzillas history.

For the cover of Godzilla on the Godzilla: King of the Monsters soundtrack, System of a Downs Serj Tankian provides the vocals for the song, singing lyrics like Go, go, Godzilla and "He picks up a bus and he throws it back down." Also contributing to the track are the members of Metalocalypse's Dethklok, Gene Hoglan and Brendon Small. The cover also incorporates a Japanese taiko drumming group, a full orchestra, chanting, kick drums and a heavy metal rhythm section. Add in Serj Tankians vocals, and Bear McCreary told Rolling Stone that his Godzilla cover is complete musical madness.

That sounds exactly like what you would want from a soundtrack for this movie because judging by the trailers, Godzilla: King of the Monsters is complete cinematic madness. Also, for a franchise as old and storied as Godzilla, its nice to see new titles recognize the franchises history. And while Blue yster Cults Godzilla isnt an official part of the canon, it is an important part of the pop culture history of the giant monster.

While many people are probably considering holding off on visiting Walt Disney World until Star Wars Galaxy's Edge opens in the late-fall of 2019, there are plenty of great reasons not to wait, and Disney Parks recently announced a number of limited time events that might make you consider making the trip sooner rather than later.

Street Party is a parade that been going on at the Magic Kingdom for some time, but it's going to get something of a makeover in 2019. Beginning January 18, the parade's name will be changed to the Move It! Shake It! MousekeDance It! The Incredibles at Disney's Hollywood StudiosIn 2018, Disney's Hollywood Studios received a major upgrade in the form of Toy Story Land. Beginning January 18, the area currently known as Pixar Place will be transformed into a city block from the city of Munciberg, the home of the Incredibles. Guests will be able to meet Edna Mode, see some of her superset creations, and also meet Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl and Frozone. Music and games are also promised. Mike and Sully from Monsters Inc. will also make an appearance later in the year.

Lightning McQueen's Racing AcademyLater in the spring of 2019, another Pixar celebrity will take the stage when Lightning McQueen opens Lightning McQueen's Racing Academy. Lightning will welcome guests as if they are the next generation of rookie racers and offer his expertise and experience to them. This promises to tell the "untold story" of Lightning McQueen, which sounds like it will be a lot of fun for fans of the Cars movies. The exact start date of this one has not yet been announced, but it also has no set end date, so it will probably be around for a while.

Hakuna Matata Time Dance Party2019 marks the 25th anniversary of The Lion King, and in addition to the movie being remade by Disney, some of the popular characters will be hanging out at Disney's Animal Kingdom next year in order to celebrate the event. Timon and Rafiki will be on hand beginning January 18 to host the Hakuna Matata Time Dance Party, which will offer World Music that younger guests should enjoy dancing along with. In addition, new Lion King-themed photo opportunities will be available for guests to insert themselves into moments from the movie. Epcot International Festival of the ArtsThe International Festival of the Arts has been going on at Epcot for many years, and it has officially been scheduled for 2019. The event will begin on January 18 and run through February 25. In addition to the visual arts on display, music and performance will be an even bigger part of the festival next year, with the Disney on Broadway Concert Series running every day of the week driving the celebration. Epcot International Flower & Garden FestivalFollowing the International Festival of the Arts will be the International Flower and Garden Festival, which will run in 2019 from March 6 to June 3. With three concerts a day scheduled over the course of the 90-day event, there will be 270 different shows to choose from.
