The Best Scary Horror Movies On Netflix Now In 2019

The Best Scary Horror Movies On Netflix Now In 2019

Looking for a great horror movie to watch on Netflix? Simply opening up Netflix and browsing around can be a bit daunting. After all, there is a gigantic selection of titles to choose from, and if youre not 100% sure what you want to watch, you could spend hours trying to make a decision. If, however, youre currently feeling in the mood for the scares provided by a great horror film, were here to help you out and keep your movie night on track.

Weve built this feature to highlight what is really the cream of the crop when it comes to the horror catalogue on Netflix. If youre looking for vampires, zombies, serial killers, and all other kinds of splatter entertainment currently available, youre in the right place. We picked 25 of the best horror movies on Netflix right now, and we've grouped them by some popular horror genres to help you jump straight into the kind of movie you're interested in. First we have Slashers , those classic movies where some terrifying murderer is out to get everyone with their favorite weapon of choice. Then we have Bloody Messes which is pretty much exactly what it sounds like, you shouldn't expect everyone to make it out alive... Following that is the section for Hauntings , where you can fully expect to be terrified and stay up all night wondering if that noise in your attic is just the wind or actually a centuries old demon come to your house specifically. Fourth we have The Classics which are just some of the best movies you've probably at least heard about in pop culture and are worth watching if you want to understand all the references. Lastly, check out some of the best Netflix Originals, since Netflix is doing their best to provide some great horror films to add to their library. The numbers are in no particular order, just by the groupings above, so without further ado, let's start with our Slashers:

25. All The Boys Love Mandy LaneJonathan Levine's All the Boys Love Mandy Lane was a film that, years ago, audiences thought they might never see. The movie premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2006, and followed that up with a brief festival run, but it wasn't actually until 2013 that it finally got a limited release. Now the movie is easily accessible to all Netflix subscribers, however, and fans can get freaked out watching Amber Heard try to survive in a more modern take on the slasher subgenre.

24. Cult Of ChuckyWhile there is a tendency for horror franchises to become truly terrible the longer they exist, that is weirdly not the case for the killer doll known as Chucky. Sure, there was a weird time when things got a bit too comedic for their own good, but the titles being made today are just as good as the original Childs Play and Childs Play 2. This definitely includes Don Mancini's Cult Of Chucky, which is not only a fun, scary horror feature, but a surprisingly great follow-up to 2013s Curse of Chucky.

23. Jason XWeirdly, the Friday The 13th franchise only has two titles on Netflix, and considering the other one is Jason Goes To Hell, this pick was pretty damn easy - not to mention the fact that James Isaacs Jason X is arguably the best movie in the entire series. While a lot of the other adventures of Jason Voorhees tend to blend together, this film is most definitely a standout, being the only one that is set in the future and has the iconic slasher doing his killing in space.

22. Scream 4This isnt the case of picking the best title from a franchise, as none of the other Scream movies are currently available on Netflix, but at the same time Wes Cravens Scream 4 is a film that deserves a bit more recognition that it gets. No, its not as good as the first two in the series, and it does make some unfortunate choices in its third act, but it is at the same time a nice update from a meta perspective, and does have something to say about the current generation and modern horror.

21. Final DestinationFans of the Final Destination features will be happy to know that the first three movies from the series are available on Netflix, but Im only singling out one title from various franchises, and the first film in this case is definitely the best (though Final Destination 2 has the best opening of all five titles). Its hard not to love both the premise and execution of this one, as its really a horror fans delight watching filmmakers design the most convoluted and creative ways to kill all of the characters.

20. From Dusk Till DawnThere is no denying it: Robert Rodriguezs From Dusk Till Dawn is a weird movie. It starts as a violent crime thriller, but as it shifts its way into its second half it turns into a balls-to-the-wall, vampire-filled horror fest. Its kind of a jarring experience, but if youre game for it, its also a blast. Its honestly some of the best character work from George Clooneys early career, and a lot of fun to go with some bizarre and gory scares.

19. Green RoomJeremy Saulniers Green Room will sadly long be remembered as one of the last films to star Anton Yelchin before his untimely death in 2016, but even putting that aside the movie is one deserving of viewing simply because its absolutely incredible. The story centers on members of a punk band that find themselves in serious trouble when they witness a murder after a gig at a neo-Nazi club, and its the kind of filmmaking that has you clawing at the armrests. Not only is Yelchin brilliant, but there is also some great stuff from Patrick Stewart, Alia Shawkat, and Imogen Poots.

18. RawCannibalism is one of those things that people generally dont like thinking about on a regular basis (for what are hopefully obvious reasons), and perhaps because of this there arent too many films on the subject. Julia Ducournaus Raw tackles it head-on, however, and the results are just as disturbing as you would hope. A French-language film, the plot finds a young vegetarian woman (Garance Marillier) undergo a seriously disturbing change when she goes through a horrific initiation ritual at her veterinary school specifically one that sees he start craving the taste of human flesh.

17. Se7enAfter establishing himself as a phenomenal music video director, David Finchers work in the feature business didnt start out so well, with a lot of messiness happening behind the scenes of Alien3, but thankfully he rebounded with Se7en, which is simply one of the best serial killer films ever, and features one of the best twists ever (and I say this fully recognizing the next two titles in this feature). Even knowing how it all ends, however, its still amazing to watch this one play out, following a pair of detectives (Brad Pitt, Morgan Freeman) tracking a homicidal maniac taking inspiration from the seven deadly sins.

16. Train To BusanTheres an unfortunate overall lack of great zombie movies featured on Netflix, but at the very least the presence of Yeon Sang-hos Train To Busan makes up for some of that. This is easily one of the best modern examples of the subgenre, choosing a fascinating and truly scary location for its characters to be in during the outbreak of a deadly virus that turns people into mindless monsters (its in the title). There was a point in recent history where Hollywood did its best to totally exhaust audiences with zombie stories, but this one still manages to feel fresh.

15. The WitchFew period horror films are quite as transportive as Robert Eggers The Witch, which throws audiences back to 17th century New England for a hyper-disturbing ride. A family is forced to make it on their own after being cast out of their community, and while living on the edge of a dark wood they find themselves plagued upon by an evil witch. This definitely isnt a movie about jump scares, but it is nightmarish all the same, and one of the best examples of the genre in the young 21st century.

14. Before I WakeNetflix has begun forging relationships with a lot of great directors, and Mike Flanagan can be counted among them. The filmmaker is notably the showrunner of the original series The Haunting Of Hill House, but the streaming service also hosts a number of his fantastic films. Before I Wake is a great example of his talent, creating a literal nightmare parenting scenario when a mom and dad (Kate Bosworth and Tom Jane) realize that the dreams of their son (Jacob Tremblay) are manifesting in reality as he sleeps.

13. The ConjuringBreaking out with his massive hit Saw, James Wan has become one of the most significant voices in the world of modern horror, and one could argue that The Conjuring is the best film hes made to date in the genre. The film that launched the uber-successful franchise, the premise seems entirely basic two paranormal investigators (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga) investigate mysterious happenings in a country house but what makes it sing is gorgeous cinematography, fantastic performances, and some truly terrifying set pieces.

12. FlatlinersPrimarily thanks to his Batman movies, Joel Schumacher's legacy in Hollywood isn't entirely fantastic, but Flatliners remains an easy movie to defend - particularly just for the 1990-ness of it. It's a star-studded cast including Kiefer Sutherland, Kevin Bacon, Julia Roberts, Oliver Platt and William Baldwin carrying out experiments with death, and it features not only some cool, creative ideas, but some nice occasional scares.

11. The Sixth SenseM. Night Shyamalans career has definitely been a mixed bag most recently highlighted by the release of Glass but the title from his filmography that audiences will always largely agree on is The Sixth Sense. Even beyond having what is considered one of the greatest twists in modern cinema, its really a beautiful, dark, and understated feature that shines in large part to the performances from Bruce Willis and young Haley Joel Osment. Even after all this time, one cant argue with why Shyamalans star initially rose like it did.

10. Cape FearMartin Scorsese is one of the greatest filmmakers to ever live, and while he isnt exactly known for his work in the horror genre, hes still made some very scary films. The most recent was Shutter Island, but arguably his best is Cape Fear: a remake of J. Lee Thompsons 1962 film that stars Robert De Niro as the terrifying Max Cady a psychopath who, after getting out of prison, executes a plan to stalk and kill the defense attorney (Nick Nolte) who he blames for getting him incarcerated.

9. ChristineWeve already mentioned Stephen King once in this feature, but Christine is a two-fer when it comes to horror icons, what with it being directed by the legendary John Carpenter. This is definitely one of the most well-known stories in the King canon, telling the story of an evil car that is not only practically indestructible and kills anyone it doesnt like, but fully corrupts its owner.

8. JawsLike Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg is a legendary director who hasnt spent much time in the horror genre, but what he has contributed is some of the best stuff of all time. Jaws is an absolute masterpiece, built with not only some of the greatest sequences in cinema history, but also some of the greatest single shots. This epic battle of man vs. shark is a tale that will be remembered and regarded for centuries and being available on Netflix will only help that happen.

7. PoltergeistSpeaking of Steven Spielberg, Poltergeist is arguably his second best contribution to the genre the filmmaker has made, with the debate about who directed it still without a truly definitive answer. Putting that aside, this movie is one of the best examples of 20th century horror out there, with images from the killer tree to the living clown doll that will haunt the minds of audiences forever.

6. The Silence Of The LambsThe horror genre has never classically gotten a lot of respect when it comes to award season, especially the Oscars, but Jonathan Demmes The Silence Of The Lambs is an extreme exception. The iconic story of an FBI agent (Jodie Foster) turning to a psychopath (Anthony Hopkins) for advice while trying to hunt down a serial killer, the film is one of only three movies to win the Big Five at the Academy Awards and in retrospect, the prizes are definitely well-deserved.

5. 1922When talking about horror, Stephen King is always a great place to start. 1922 is an adaptation of one of his lesser-known stories, but has a dark and disturbing yarn to spin, with Tom Jane starring as a farmer who conspires with his son to kill his wife as part of a financial scheme. Terrible actions tend to have terrible consequences, however, and those discovered here are very much of the unexpected variety.

4. ApostleGareth Evans really blew audiences away with his breakout films The Raid and The Raid 2, but after considering The Raid 3 he instead decided to make a genre switch and try out a bit of cult horror with Apostle. A Netflix original release, the 1905-set story follows a criminal (Dan Stevens) as he covertly travels to a remote island with the hopes of rescuing his sister from a dangerous cult. He gains access pretending to be a follower, but is in no way ready for the realities of whats going on behind closed doors and underground.

3. CamCam girl culture is not a world that many filmmakers have tackled, but Daniel Goldhabers Cam takes it on with an awesome horror bent. It centers on an ambitious young woman (Madeline Brewer) who is excited to be gaining popularity as a cam girl star, but finds herself deeply disturbed when she discovers that a doppelganger has taken over her channel.

2. Geralds GameWeve arrived at Stephen King adaptation number three, and Mike Flanagan film number two! Geralds Game is based on a straight-forward premise centering on a woman (Carla Gugino) who is handcuffed to her bed by her husband (Bruce Greenwood) during a romantic retreat, and then left struggling to survive when he dies from a heart attack but its also one of the most tense movies released in recent years. Despite spending the bulk of her screen time in one spot, Gugino, who has always been a phenomenal talent, delivers one of the best performances of her career, and drives home a fantastic message about the power of inner-strength.

1. HushYup, its time for another Mike Flanagan entry! (and sadly the last) While Netflix also has Bryan Bertinos The Strangers available to stream, Hush is a vastly superior home invasion film that actually has something new to add to the subgenre. What makes this one particularly different is that its protagonist (Kate Siegel) is deaf, which inspires the unnamed killer (John Gallagher Jr.) to actually be somehow even more sadistic and cruel than your typical homicidal home invader. Its a movie that will have you jumping out of your skin, and further proof of Flanagans extreme talent.

Harrison Ford Has Very Blunt Opinions About The Future Of Indiana Jones

Harrison Ford Has Very Blunt Opinions About The Future Of Indiana Jones

We live in a remake and reboot culture. Will Smith is playing a genie role made famous by Robin Williams in Aladdin. Robert Pattinson reportedly has been cast as the next Batman, the latest in a long line. And even one of Harrison Fords most iconic roles, Han Solo, was played by the younger Alden Ehrenreich in Ron Howards Solo: A Star Wars Story. Almost any role can be recast, right? Well, not quite.

Perhaps Harrison Ford is annoyed that Han Solo was played by someone else. Because the veteran screen icon appeared on The TODAY Show this morning and was asked who he would like to see as the next Indiana Jones when hes ready to hang up the whip and fedora. And Ford honestly answered:

Nobody is going to be Indiana Jones. Dont you get it? Im Indiana Jones. When Im gone, hes gone. Its easy!

Ford was being playful, but he was also making it very clear. The role of Indiana Jones will always be his, and none of these young upstarts should be sizing themselves up for the archaeologists signature leather jacket any time soon. In fact, as the interview continued, Harrison Ford hilariously added:

This is a hell of a way to tell Chris Pine this. Im sorry man!

Thats great. Perhaps this was a dig at the fact that Chris Pine did take one of Harrison Fords classic roles when he played Jack Ryan in the Tom Clancy story Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit. Or maybe its Ford always being asked about which young actor is going to move into his signature roles?

We have heard, over the years, the name Chris Pratt associated with the Indiana Jones role, maybe with him stepping in for a prequel story. However, as the casting of Alden Ehrenreich proved with Solo: A Star Wars Story, Ford leaves VERY big shoes to fill, and very few have the same on-screen charisma and swagger to play the parts that he has created.

If I were an up-and-coming actor, the last thing Id want to do is try to redo Indiana Jones, a character who is so closely associated with Ford that anyone other than Harrison in the role feels like a crime. So you know what? Dont do it. Listen to Harrison. When hes gone, Indy is gone. I think fandom would be OK with that.

Heres Ford, dropping truth bombs all over the set of The TODAY Show.

Harrison Ford isnt ready to retire the role of Indiana Jones just yet. Disney has a release date for an untitled Indiana Jones 5 on July 9, 2021. Steven Spielberg is expected to direct, and Ford will be back in the lead. Since Ford is currently 76, were going to keep guessing that this will be his last time playing Indy, but we have assumed that in the past, and Ford has proven us wrong, so we shall see.

The 5 Best Jennifer Aniston Movies, And The 5 Worst

The 5 Best Jennifer Aniston Movies, And The 5 Worst

Though some folks might know her best as Rachel Green during her long-standing stint on NBC's Friends, Jennifer Aniston has been on the big screen more than a few times, in a variety of different movies including the upcoming Netflix picture Murder Mystery with Adam Sandler. For more than twenty years, she has split her time on screens both big and small, although a few of her cinematic performances remain her best to date. Some of these films are well-known. Other titles are often forgotten or, in some cases, best forgotten.

There are several good Jennifer Aniston movies, and there are several other Jennifer Aniston movies that make you wish she chose a different project altogether. Or maybe fired her agent. Opinions may vary. Jennifer Aniston has, of course, been in some great comedies. But of course she has, unfortunately, been involved with a few stinkers in her career. Not every film can be a winner. Let's take a look at the best and the brightest, and some of the worst.

It should be noted there are a few popular titles that didn't make the list, for several different reasons. For instance, I still consider The Iron Giant to be the best movie that Jennifer Aniston has ever been in. But while she did lend her voice to a prominent role, it's not necessarily a "Jennifer Aniston movie." At least, not in the way most people would categorize that distinction. Additionally, Horrible Bosses 1 & 2, for better or for worse, fall under a similar umbrella. They're movies that star Jennifer Aniston, but they're not quite "Jennifer Aniston movies" in my view. I hope that makes sense.

The Best Jennifer Aniston Movies

The Good GirlSimultaneously one of Jennifer Aniston's best and most underrated movies, Miguel Arteta's The Good Girl was well-regarded by critics, particularly during its film festival runs. However, it never earned a wide audience despite Jennifer Aniston's enormous celebrity and fame from Friends. That's really a shame, because it's a fantastic character study, built quietly and impeccably by Aniston's graceful, compelling performance.

Playing Justine Last, a discount store clerk stuck in a dead-end town in a passionless marriage, our titular good girl starts to make some morally-grey decisions (at best) when she fancies an affair with a stock boy, played by Jake Gyllenhaal. Bolstered by lovely cinematography and another fantastically resounding screenplay by Mike White (School of Rock), The Good Girl is a stunner, and it deserves to be acclaimed and celebrated more than it is. In my view, Jennifer Aniston gives a career-best performance in here. She's not just good; she's great.

Office SpaceA true cult classic, Mike Judge's often-quoted dark comedy Office Space initially didn't find its audience when it first rolled into theaters back in 1999. Yet, once it made its way onto home video, there were folks everywhere who found themselves relating to the exhausted struggles of its lead characters, as well as their desire to rebel against their brain-dead managers. In the midst of these office struggles, however, is Peter's (Ron Livingston) fostering a relationship with a waitress named Joanna, played by Jennifer Aniston.

A similarly disgruntled employee who also doesn't appreciate her management, to put it mildly, Joanna seems like the right match for Peter. Sure enough, she and Peter begin to form a relationship through their distain for their jobs. And it provided Jennifer Aniston with one of her most relatable, down-to-earth performances. That's particularly noteworthy since the movie was filmed in between seasons of Friends, which was easily becoming one of the most popular sitcoms in TV history. Foxy, funny and strong-willed, Jennifer Aniston's performance in Office Space is a stand-out. There's no denying that Office Space holds a special place in people's hearts for many reasons, and Jennifer Aniston's involvement is certainly one reason why. Work might suck, but Office Space most certainly does not.

The Break-UpIn Peyton Reed's charming, endearing anti-rom-com, The Break-Up, Jennifer Aniston acts alongside Vince Vaughn as one-half of a disgruntled couple who decide to call it quits, only to continue living together in their luxurious Chicago condo. Not too far-fetched as far as comedy premises go, truth be told. And that is part of what makes this movie work. Acting alongside one another, Aniston and Vaughn have an enjoyably prickly chemistry which sounds like an oxymoron, but it actually fits the film's surprisingly effective tonal mix of loose comedy and serious drama.

There are no meet cutes here; only un-cute, well-established disgruntlements. That doesn't roll off the tongue quite so well. While this premise could've easily been a major turn off if it had been done wrong, Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn (who actually became a couple after filming The Break-Up), strike the right off-kilter balance and sell the hardships of their uncoupling in amusing, yet believable, ways. And Aniston fully commits to this premise. Whether it's creating authentic, convincing arguments with her on-screen partner or prancing around the apartment naked in order to spite her ex-lover, Aniston is dedicated to this break-up comedy. The movie is all the better for it.

Bruce AlmightyAdmittedly, Bruce Almighty might be more of a Jim Carrey picture than a Jennifer Aniston film. Much like the main character, I'm bending the rules a little bit here. Still, this original, inspired early '00s comedy, which imagines what would happen if an average man were given the powers of God, finds Aniston playing a good romantic and comedic companion to the typically-hysterical Jim Carrey in one of his most liberating cinematic performances.

No doubt, it's hard to go toe-to-toe with Jim Carrey most particularly at the height of his cinematic fame. Yet, Jennifer Aniston was far from a nobody at this point in her career. She confidently brings the comedy and heart, helping to craft the romantic centerpiece that's at the root of this farce. As a result, as funny as Bruce Almighty can be, it wouldn't be quite as memorable or winning if it weren't for Jennifer Aniston's performance. It's divine.

Dumplin'A winsome and warm-hearted adaptation of Julie Murphy's novel of the same name, Dumplin' is the tale of Willowdean Dickson (Danielle Macdonald), also known as "Dumplin," an overweight teenager who decides to spite her beauty queen mom, played by Jennifer Aniston, by participating in the local beauty pageant. The result is an inviting, good-natured and emotionally rewarding coming-of-age story that would've made quite a splash in theaters as an underdog hit if it had been made 10 years earlier. Alas, in 2018, however, it was put on Netflix with only moderate fanfare. That's a shame, truly, because Macdonald and Aniston each give one of their best performances to date.

Empowered by good morals and the wonderful guiding music of Dolly Parton -- who also produced a pair of original tunes for the film -- Dumplin' gives Jennifer Aniston a role that benefits her comedic and dramatic talents, while not always taking the center stage. Nevertheless, in the movie's best moments, Aniston provides a commendable, heartfelt performance that showcases what she can do with her talents as an actress. Notably in a way that other recent movies like Cake tried and didn't succeed in doing (at least in this writer's humble opinion). Netflix's Dumplin' is most certainly a winner.

The Worst Jennifer Aniston Movies

The Bounty HunterMuch like relationships, romantic comedies don't always work out. You can try your best to squish two bankable stars together, but if the sparks don't fly, there's nothing worth celebrating. Sure enough, 2010's grating, unlikable rom-com The Bounty Hunter is a poorly-calculated, constantly overblown flop that tries to sell the the idea of Gerard Butler having a cold-then-hot on-screen relationship with Jennifer Aniston. It simply doesn't work. At all.

The story wants us to fall in love with a bounty hunter who discovers that his next target is his ex-wife, only to finds themselves on the run with their lives on the line. You can definitely see why these two ex-lovers wouldn't want anything to do with each other, and never get the understanding of why they might want to fall in love again. The result is a painful, unrewarding studio comedy that isn't worth the finder's fee. Try to find a better movie.

LeprechaunBefore she became Rachel Green, Jennifer Aniston was a young up-and-coming actress trying to make a name for yourself. You can't be too picky at that stage in your career. And when you're given your first leading role, you take it even if the movie might not win you any Oscars. Sure enough, Jennifer Aniston made her movie debut (if you're not counting her brief, random appearance in Mac & Me) in 1993's schlocky horror flick, Leprechaun.

As Tory Reding, Jennifer Aniston did the best she could with the material. Leprechaun was the first in the series, before the franchise fully embraced its comedic side, and Aniston is given no favors as she tries her best to sell the idea that a leprechaun is running around town and killing people. Not even Meryl Streep could sell this convincingly. While the film would spawn an oddball series, it wouldn't be until her days on NBC when Jennifer Aniston found fame and popularity for her acting work. She certainly didn't find a lot of luck with her pre-fame role in Leprechaun, however. Oh well. At least it gave us this memorable scene from Wayne's World 2.

Mother's DayThe movie that has the unfortunate distinction of being director Gary Marshall's final picture, Mother's Day is yet another loosely-assembled ensemble piece based around a commercially-popular holiday. In this case, it's not Valentine's Day or New Year's Eve, but rather as the title would suggest Mother's Day. In the film, Jennifer Aniston plays Sandy, a recently-divorced mother of two whose husband has recently remarried a younger woman.

While generally harmless in its cutesy execution, this deeply bland family dramedy plays like a bad sitcom with an overqualified cast playing broadly-drawn characters that are beneath their established talents. It's a waste of a great cast, and that's certainly true for Jennifer Aniston. It's also lazy and woefully generic, much like a tacky Mother's Day card that you would pick up at the supermarket for 99 cents. In that case, with many sincere apologizes to the late, great Gary Marshall, Mother's Day is far from a holiday.

Rumor Has It ...With The Princess Bride and When Harry Met Sally..., director Rob Reiner proved himself to be one of the best romantic comedy-makers of the 20th century. Unfortunately, when it came time to transition into the 2000s, something got lost in the last millennium. That was made evident with Rumor Has It..., a deeply mediocre, poorly realized rom-com with a fun premise: What if you found out your mother AND grandmother inspired The Graduate?

A film with a troubled production, with screenwriter Ted Griffin fired from the director's chair 12 days after filming began and Reiner coming on at the last minute to retool it, the result is a middling, meandering, dull and deeply forgettable comedy that never makes good use of Jennifer Aniston's on-screen talents. She does the best she can, but there was no sense trying to save this sinking picture. Perhaps some rumors are better left unsaid.

Along Came PollyI used to have a running gag with a couple of my friends where I start to describe the trailer for an exceptionally generic romantic comedy with two miscast actors. And it always (intentionally and unintentionally) turned into the plot synopsis for 2004's Along Came Polly. The film, which finds a neurotic Ben Stiller learning to let loose and have fun when he falls in love with free-spirited Jennifer Aniston, hits almost all of the expected corny beats of a predictable, run-of-the-mill early 2000s romantic comedy, and it never strives to do anything better or worse than its other contemporary romantic comedies.

Instead, Along Came Polly is the type of movie that once used to fill the shelves of Blockbusters and became an easy pick for couples to select on date night, only to turn it off or not pay attention. It's not necessarily the worst rom-com out there, but it has nothing to make it particularly noteworthy or distinctive beyond the absurdly weird choice to have the late, great Phillip Seymour Hoffman plays second fiddle to Ben Stiller's nervous antics. You can move along. There's nothing to see here.

Also, we didn't find the time to write about a few other Jennifer Aniston movies, including We're the Millers, Cake, Marley & Me, Wanderlust, Picture Perfect, Rock Star, Just Go With It... or Friends with Money, though each of those movies have their fans and critics. Even though they're not included, they were not forgotten. Do you think these are Jennifer Aniston's best and worst movies? Godzilla: King Of The Monsters' Trailer Has A Ton Of Horror Movie References

Godzilla: King Of The Monsters' Trailer Has A Ton Of Horror Movie References

If you were paying attention to all of the trailers that dropped at San Diego Comic-Con, you might have noticed that Godzilla: King of the Monsters delivered something fairly extraordinary in its first preview. Michael Dougherty's sequel to Gareth Edwards' Godzilla looks incredible, and the MonsterVerse movie even features a number of references to some truly legendary horror movies, such as John Carpenter's The Thing and William Friedkin's The Exorcist.

The first of these newly discovered references (via Comingsoon.net) is the nod to John Carpenter's 1982 classic, The Thing. Specifically, there is a sequence in the trailer in which a group of soldiers storms a snow-covered base called Outpost 32. This is a direct nod to Outpost 31, the location of the deadly events of that classic alien flick. You can check out the shot from the trailer, below!

Beyond the nod to The Thing, there's also a reference to William Friedkin's The Exorcist that's arguably even more on-the-nose and obvious to die-hard fans of horror movies. At one point in the trailer for Godzilla: King of the Monsters, a statue can be seen buried in a shot, and it bears a striking similarity to the statue of Pazuzu seen in the original Exorcist movie. If you want to see Godzilla: King of the Monsters' take on the Pazuzu statue, you can check it out, below!

Of course, if that is what the folks behind Godzilla: King of the Monsters were willing to show in the trailers, then we cannot wait to see what other secrets the film has in store for us when we finally get a chance to watch it. With his work on films like Krampus and Trick 'r' Treat, director Michael Dougherty has proven time and time again that he knows his way around the horror franchise. If that continues to hold true, then there's potentially no limit to the number of deep cut references and awesome Easter eggs that we may possibly see in this latest take on the MonsterVerse and its behemoth inhabitants.

Audiences will get a chance to see all of these horror movie references (and potentially even more) when Godzilla: King of the Monsters debuts on May 31, 2019. We will keep you updated on all of the significant developments associated with the film, and until we learn more, you can head over to our movie premiere guide to read up on the films that are set to debut this year!
