Is The Hulkbuster Armor Going To Be Repurposed In Avengers: Infinity War?

There are few in the universe who are capable of actually engaging Hulk in a straight-up brawl, which is why Tony Stark made preparations for if the day came that he'd need to throw down with the Green Goliath. In Avengers: Age of Ultron, the Hulkbuster armor debuted, which Iron Man donned when Hulk went crazy after being hexed by Scarlet Witch. The Hulkbuster will be thrown back into action late next month for Avengers: Infinity War, but this time around, it appears that Hulk himself may be putting the armor on.

As we enter the final weeks of Avengers: Infinity War's marketing push, toys for the movie will be hitting shelves, and one of the playthings that will be available is a Hulk figure that comes with the Hulkbuster armor. However, on the off chance you don't feel like pitting Hulk against the Hulkbuster for Round 2, the Hulk figure can actually be put inside the armor, hence why it's called "Hulk Out Hulkbuster." The artwork on the toy box, as passed on by a Reddit user, also shows Hulk tearing himself free from the Hulkbuster. Granted, toys don't always serve as confirmation that a specific moment or character will be depicted in a movie, but the little Avengers: Infinity War footage that's been released so far suggests Hulkbuster's repurposing is a strong possibility.

We know that Bruce Banner will meet up with Captain America, Black Widow, Black Panther and select other MCU heroes in Wakanda, and Banner will Hulk out so he can help fight Thanos' horde of monsters. There's also a quick shot in the teaser trailer of the Hulkbuster armor landing and later fighting with the Mad Titan's minions. However, Tony Stark is nowhere to be seen in Wakanda in the preview, suggesting that he may be too bust with what's going down in New York, but will still send the Hulkbuster to Wakanda to provide extra firepower. Even though Hulk is already incredibly strong, putting on the armor certainly wouldn't hurt. After all, he wore armor during his time on Sakaar. That being said, if that toy is indeed confirmation of what will go down in Avengers: Infinity War, then eventually Hulk will break free of the Hulkbuster and charge ahead without the added protection.

When we last saw Hulk in the MCU, he was returning to Earth with Thor, Loki and the Asgardian citizens. It remains to be seen how the character goes from being there to landing in Doctor Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum in Bruce Banner form, but whatever the reason is, it won't be long before he has to jump into a new conflict. Avengers: Infinity War also serves as the second chapter of Hulk's special story arc, which began in Thor: Ragnarok and will conclude in Avengers 4.

This massive machine is more mech than suit and it featured in the last Avengers movie, Age of Ultron where Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) had to use it to fight an out of control Hulk.

This Rotten Week: Predicting A Wrinkle In Time, Gringo, Strangers: Prey at Night And Hurricane Heist Reviews

In the past few weeks every new release has been overshadowed by Black Panther, but we've got four flicks hitting theaters this week with a little something for everyone. A timeless classic gets it's big screen treatment, a pharma exec is kidnapped in Mexico, a family makes a bad travel mistake, and thieves plot a robbery in the middle of a Category 5. Let's get ready for A Wrinkle in Time, Gringo, The Strangers: Prey at Night and The Hurricane Heist.

Just remember, I'm not reviewing these movies, but rather predicting where they'll end up on the Tomatometer. Let's take a look at This Rotten Week has to offer.

Growing up can be tough. Sometimes you're asked to get through 12 years of school with moderate-to-good grades while navigating the social landscape and all its pitfalls. Other times you're asked to go on an inter-dimensional quest to stop otherworldly evil, save the universe, and bring your dad home in the process. Being a kid can really suck sometimes - but it can make for some cool looking blockbuster entertainment, as seen in Ava DuVernay's A Wrinkle In Time.

The much-anticipated, big screen adaptation of the famous Madeleine L'Engle novel, A Wrinkle in Time follows Meg Murry, her brother Charles Wallace, and their friend Calvin as they set off to find Meg's father who's been lost in time and space. Director Ava DuVernay is best known for Selma (98%), but also helmed the acclaimed documentary 13th (96%). This is a step away from those other works in terms of budget, and the visuals look fantastic. The source story, a little confusing at times, is the only thing I can see holding this one back.

The premise of Nash Edgerton's Gringo is so weird that it just might work. A down-on-his-luck low-level pharma executive is sent to Mexico with the recipe for marijuana in pill form, and is subsequently kidnapped and held for ransom. A whacky ex-military operative is sent to bring him home, only to have a bunch of hijinks ensue. It looks a little meatier than your standard comedy kidnap fare, but still, I had a hard time wrapping my around what the hell was actually happening in the trailer. Though all of the chaos seems like it might come together. While it's a shame some trailers are labeling Mexico "the most dangerous place on Earth," the rest of the film does look like a solid mix of comedy and drama - a dark look at our drug war and big pharma all wrapped up in one man's epic bad luck.

This is director Nash Edgerton's first widely released film, and most of his work has been coordinating stunts, acting, and helming shorts. In Gringo he teams up with his brother Joel Edgerton, and I suspect, does well with the critics.

Here's a little travel tip from someone who's had his fair share of cross-country and intercontinental adventures: when you pull into the mobile home park to visit friends and you find it abandoned? Put the car into reverse and get away as quickly as possible. Nothing good will come by trying to stay through the night and make the best of it in the morning. Most likely you won't see the morning... as the protagonists of Strangers: Prey At Night will discover.

Strangers: Prey At Night is the sequel to 2008's The Strangers (47%), whose masked terrorizers stuck with me for quite a while. For some reason, the masks in just the trailer were scary enough for me. I didn't need to see the rest of it. This one is helmed by Johannes Roberts - 47 Meters Down (47%) - and I can't imagine it outperforms its predecessor. It appears your standard horror film without breaking any new ground.

On it's surface, the idea behind The Hurricane Heist - about a heist in the middle of a hurricane - seems like a pretty cool idea... even if they likely came up with the title before actually figuring out the rest of it. That being said, it also looks very much like a film that should have gone straight to video (no shame there), and avoided the theaters all together. This thing looks like a bomb, and one that critics are going to destroy.

Director Rob Cohen has a pretty amazing track record on the old Tomatometer - and by amazing I mean it's amazing he keeps getting hired. He's failed to clear the 20% hurdle in his last four films (The Boy Next Door - 10%, Alex Cross - 12%, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor - 12%, Stealth - 13%) and you have to go all the way back to The Fast and the Furious (53%) in 2001 to find anything even close to positive. The Hurricane Heist is fully expected to follow the pattern, if not ultimately do worse than those movies.

We had one hit and one miss with the predictions from last time around. Red Sparrow (Predicted: 57% Actual: 51%) landed right in range, with critics coming almost straight down the middle on their feelings about the film. It looked like an uninspiring film: dark and brooding without being overly interesting. The reviews weren't polarized, but rather each critic seemed to find something like really liked leveled out by something they really hated.

Meanwhile, Death Wish (Predicted: 31% Actual: 15%) missed ,though I like to think I was right about the sentiment. I just didn't have the guts to go low enough. I suspected the tone of the movie would fall flat even in the best of times, which certainly isn't the case these days. The rampant gun violence, even if it was a commentary on the current state of violence in America, was a big miss with many critics who referenced the current discourse as a reason for hating the flick. Overall, it was a critical bomb.

Next time around we've got a big one with I Can Only Imagine, Love, Simon, and Tomb Raider. It's gonna be a Rotten Week!

Ben Affleck Seems Down To Return For Jay And Silent Bob Reboot

For the films set in his View Askewniverse, writer and director Kevin Smith often tapped a recurring group of actors to play the same or different roles in each film. And one of the staples of the View Askewniverse was Ben Affleck. So naturally, with many Kevin Smith regulars returning for Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, people are wondering if Ben Affleck will join them, and he seems down to do so. Responding to a question about whether he would make an appearance he said:

Your guess is a good as mine. I havent been asked to make an appearance but you never know, theres still time. Well see. I think if it was up to me, I would rather do Holden than Shannon, but I would defer to Kevin.

As it currently stands, Ben Affleck is not set to show up in Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, but he certainly sounds open to the idea and he definitely didnt shoot down the possibility as something hes not interested in. If Kevin Smith would like Ben Affleck to join in the festivities with his former View Askewniverse mates, he can call him up before production is over.

Jay and Silent Bob Reboot is still filming so as Ben Affleck says, there is still time. And while he probably wouldnt have a major role at this point, he certainly could show up for a cameo as small as his one in Clerks II or maybe even something a little larger like his part in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. If Kevin Smith does ask him to make an appearance, Ben Affleck has a preference to which character hed play.

Like Jason Lee, Joey Lauren Adams and Brian OHalloran, Ben Affleck has played multiple characters in the View Askewniverse. Save for his fallen angel Bartleby from Dogma, the two most obvious characters he could return as are Holden McNeil and Shannon Hamilton. If it were between these two, Affleck would much prefer to return as Holden than Shannon, as he told Collider.

Holden McNeil appeared in two View Askewniverse films. First he was the protagonist in Chasing Amy, where he was the co-creator of the Bluntman and Chronic comic book, the comic book based on Jay and Silent Bob that Hollywood was adapting in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. Holden appeared in that film as well, where he introduced Jay and Silent Bob to the internet and the movie being made about them in an incredibly prophetic look at online movie culture. You can watch part of that scene below.

Given his appearance in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Holden seems the most natural choice to return for the sequel, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, as opposed to the scumbag statutory rapist Shannon Hamilton from Mallrats. Holden is also the character Ben Affleck would prefer, although he clarifies that he would defer to Kevin Smith. So it doesnt seem like Shannon would be a deal breaker.

Hopefully Kevin Smith does give Ben Affleck a call. It would be great to see him return to the View Askewniverse, and just have some fun in this silly comedy. He could reprise his role as Holden and again make a meta commentary about online culture, this time slipping in a hilarious reference to the Batfleck of it all.

Ben Affleck also played himself in a different scene in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, so maybe he could do that again in this lampooning of Hollywood, finally letting us know if Good Will Hunting 2: Hunting Season got a sequel to complete the trilogy.
