Hellboy Reportedly Had Some Serious Behind The Scenes Drama

The Hellboy reboot finally arrives in theaters tomorrow, and thus far the early reception to it has not been stellar. Its received a lot of negative reviews from critics and ranks (at the time of this writing) at a measly 12% on Rotten Tomatoes. Now word has come in that Hellboy reportedly dealt with a lot of behind-the-scenes drama during the production process, namely between director Neil Marshall and producers Lawrence Gordon and Lloyd Levin.

According to The Wrap, Neil Marshall had a series of disagreements with Lawrence Gordon and Lloyd Levin that boiled over when the producers replaced Marshalls cinematographer, Sam McCurdy, with Lorenzo Senatore. Two people familiar with the situation who spoke to the outlet allege that McCurdy was fired because Gordon and Levin were trying to send a message to Marshall that even though he was Hellboys director, he was not truly in charge. While he wouldnt comment on the reasoning behind McCurdys firing, Levins attorney, Martin Singer, responded that it was a group decision that wasnt about sending a message, and accused Marshall of encouraging this story.

But this is just one clash that supposedly occurred during the making of Hellboy. Other issues reportedly included Lloyd Levin repeatedly interrupting Neil Marshall as he was rehearsing the actors to give different directions; David Harbour walking off set several times and refusing to deliver the extra takes Marshall wanted; and the script being rewritten throughout production, with one rewrite being handled by Harbour and co-star Ian McShane, among others.

However, perhaps the most bizarre issue that reportedly popped up during the making of Hellboy was a disagreement over a surreal tree that appears in the movie. Neil Marshall wanted the tree to be asymmetrical and realistic-looking, but Lloyd Levin ignored that request and had the tree be symmetrical, though the tree ultimately became asymmetrical as originally intended during postproduction.

Furthermore, after Neil Marshall handed in his cut of Hellboy, the producers allegedly took over and applied their own changes to the movie. Martin Singer claims that Marshall had never been promised the final cut on Hellboy.

Its hard to say just how much of this information is accurate and who is truly responsible for what, but it sounds like the Hellboy journey was a long and difficult one. Unfortunately, its not like this story is anything new in the Hollywood sphere. Theres no shortage of reports about behind-the-scenes difficulties during the making of a major motion picture, like the 2015 Fantastic Four reboot.

Itd be one thing if despite all these disagreements, Hellboy still managed to come together as an exceptional product, but evidently thats not the case going off the overall critical reception. Its safe to say that this will not go down in the film history books as one of the more beloved comic book movies, but as far as this behind-the-scenes drama goes, its possible this isnt the last weve heard about it, and that more details will be revealed in the near future.

Dwayne Johnson Shares Jumanji 3 Set Photo With Karen Gillan

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle was a massive hit that ended up giving Star Wars: The Last Jedi more of a run for its money at the box office than anybody ever expected. Jumanji and Star Wars are now getting ready to go head-to-head once again as Jumanji 3 is set to go up against Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Dwayne Johnson recently shared a new photo of himself and co-star Karen Gillan which shows the pair in a brand new setting, a desert.

If you didn't actually see Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, then the title is still a pretty big give away that the last movie took place entirely within a jungle setting. Since we don't know what the plot of the new film is, it's been unclear how it would plan to differentiate itself from the last movie, and it seems that at least part of the reason is that the story will unfold outside of the jungle setting that Jumanji has been so closely related to .

Dwayne Johnson's Instagram post shows sand as far as the eye can see. Other images that we've seen from production show the main cast in different outfits, including clothing that's clearly meant to keep them warm, which would imply they also end up somewhere very cold. I assumed we'd see them in the snow, though it's possible they could just end up at the desert at night.

Beyond that, the only changes come in the form of additions to the cast. Danny Devito, Awfwafina, and Danny Glover have been confirmed to be in the film, but their roles have not been revealed, so whether they're real world characters, in-game characters, or any two of them combine to make up a single character inside and outside the game, is anybody's guess.

Beyond the backdrop, the image doesn't tell us much. It's just two of our favorite characters from Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle looking sufficiently badass, but really that's good enough.

Karen Gillan herself responded to Dwayne Johnson's post with some great comments. She says "Awkward teenage love and crime" is the name of her autobiography. Gillan also gets a very positive response from her current on-screen dad, Josh Brolin.

The only real question right now about the project is that the film began production only this past February, and with a December release date, the movie isn't going to have a lot of time for post-production compared to your average blockbuster. While there weren't necessarily a lot of digital effects in the last film, there were some, and it looks like the post production team may end up with a tighter than usual window for getting that work done.

Overall Jumanji 3, or whatever it ends up being called, is looking to be a lot more of the same fun that made Welcome to the Jungle a hit with audiences.The next Jumanji is set for release December 13.

The Harry Potter franchise is arguably one of the biggest in movie and literary history, and one that is still showing no signs of slowing down. Following the release of J.K. Rowling's seven novels (and the eight movies which adapted them on the silver screen), the Wizarding World has continued to grow. This has been done through a Broadway play, Pottermore, and the Fantastic Beasts franchise. So could a reboot ever happen?

Harry Potter himself thinks so. Daniel Radcliffe has made a name for himself outside of his role as the boy who lived, but there are plenty of Potterheads who are hoping the OG franchise returns to theaters. And according to Radcliffe, a reboot seems inevitable; it's just a matter of when. As he told it,

I definitely think there will be another version of it within my lifetime. It will be interesting to see. At the moment those films have sort of a sacred varnish on them, but that will be worn away at some point... I'm just intrigued to see when that happens.

Do you hear that? It's the sound of Harry Potter fans everywhere jumping for joy. Because while J.K. Rowling may be taking the Wizarding World to new places with the Fantastic Beasts movies, there's nothing like the original.

Daniel Radcliffe's comments come from his recent conversation with TV Guide about his various acting projects, including his new TV series Miracle Workers. Obviously his tenure as Harry Potter eventually came up, and Radcliffe revealed he's confident that the beloved magical property will return to the silver screen sometime in his lifetime. The question is: when?

Harry Potter continues to be the gift that keeps on giving, as J.K. Rowling methodically releases new material, and fleshes out the world she began back with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. And once the five Fantastic Beasts movies arrive in theaters, it stands to reason that the iconic author might want to bring more movies to the adoring public. So could that include a Harry Potter reboot?

Perhaps the potential Potter project that fans are most eager to see Daniel Radcliffe in is a possible adaptation of the Cursed Child plays. Running on both Broadway and London's West End, the pair of plays serve as a sequel to the Harry Potter franchise, picking up on the characters as adults, and following their children's years at Hogwarts.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child seems like a great way to entice Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint to reprise their magical roles, and wrap up the story of Harry once and for all. And if J.K. Rowling waits until the actors are age appropriate for the roles, perhaps that'll give them enough years away from Hogwarts to inspire their return.
