Tom Hardy Has Responded To The Venom Suit Rumors

Sony is launching its own Spider-Man movie universe without Spider-Man, and now rumors are circulating that the studio's Venom movie doesn't even have Venom in it. The marketing for Venom began early last month with the release of the first teaser, but it's fair to say that the response was lukewarm at best. Many were put down by the fact that the trailer barely included the symbiote, let alone any signs of the Venom costume. This has led to rumors that the movie might not actually show Venom until the end, and star Tom Hardy has a few words to say about that:

The plan is for Venom to launch a cinematic movie universe of Spider-Man supporting characters, but the franchise seems to already be off on the wrong foot. A teaser trailer offered the first glimpse of the film but didn't show much aside from Tom Hardy's Eddie Brock screaming in pain. Earlier this week, an unnamed source claimed that the symbiote only exists inside Brock's body and doesn't form the Venom suit until the final fight of the movie. Now, these rumors don't exactly come from a trusted source, so grains of salt are deeply required, but Venom doesn't really need that kind of publicity right out of the gate.

Tom Hardy took to his Instagram account to dispel the rumors, writing that the rumors were "asinine," created by someone who wasn't able to gain "credible intel." Hardy is essentially promising that you will see the Venom before the ending of the movie and not to believe everything you read.

While fans worrying about the Venom movie is understandable given that Sony's most recent attempt at Spider-Man had enough issues that they eventually let Marvel Studios take over, there's no reason yet to go as far as to assume Venom isn't in his own movie. While the teaser didn't show him at all, that is probably due to the fact that the special effects weren't finished in time for a trailer. Keep in mind that the movie only wrapped filming earlier this year and then released the trailer soon after. If anything, the only sin committed so far was not waiting longer to tease a movie that doesn't come out until October.

Venom is directed by Ruben Fleischer and will tell the origin story of the Spider-Man villain/anti-hero Venom. Not much is known about the movie plot-wise, but it is set in San Francisco and follows Eddie Brock as he is bonded to a parasitic symbiote that grants him superpowers. The movie stars Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Jenny Slate, Riz Ahmed, and Woody Harrelson.

Josh Gad Is Back To Trolling Fans About Possible Penguin Role

Josh Gad has proven to be notoriously fond of teasing a potential desire to play The Penguin in a DC project. He's been doing this as long ago as 2017 (which sounds positively ancient now that we've headed into 2019), and he hasn't stopped yet. This week, he proved he's still happy to troll about the gig, posting:

In the early hours of the evening last night, Josh Gad posted a good night/good knight play on words for his myriad fans via Twitter. The actor may be trolling, but we doubt he'd say no if an actually opportunity as the character came along.

Over time, Josh Gad has had a lot of fun with these bids to play The Penguin. Back in May of 2017, Gad got the ball rolling with another Penguin-oriented post that was presented without comment.

This led to fan art about what Josh Gad would look like as The Penguin and more. He later admitted he was "just having some fun" with the Internet, knowing that wild rumors often crop up about stuff like that.

If it had all ended there, it still would have been a fun story. But Josh Gad can't stop and won't stop. He visited DC's offices and met with Geoff Johns and Jon Berg. He even trolled director Matt Reeves, who is doing the Batman solo movie, with a funny penguin-oriented image. Given The Batman doesn't have an official release date yet, it could be awhile before we hear more about what the movie will entail.

You'd think all of this Penguin "fun" would get old, but it hasn't yet. The only thing that could make it less fun would be if and when DC announced someone else playing a major Penguin role. Then, Josh Gad would likely be forced to let go of the joke or double down and get really weird with it.

Perhaps one day a Penguin role will actually be in his future.

I suppose for now we'll have to continue getting our Penguin fix with the final season of Gotham, which is airing on Fox with Robin Lord Taylor in the role. Still, we'll be sure to keep you posted if the fun with Josh Gad continues, as it likely will.

After the monumental success of Aquaman over the holiday season, were ready more than ever for the DC Universe to expand with additional iconic superhero introductions. Warner Bros has already announced tons of projects, such as Green Lantern Corps. So naturally, fans have been dreaming up ideas for the films heroes Hal Jordan and John Stewart. How about Zac Efron for Jordan? Take a look:

Now that we think about it, Zac Efron isnt a bad choice to take on the character of Hal Jordan either. The comic book character is a bit of bold and cocky Air Force pilot who becomes a Galactic Police Officer once the Green Lantern ring finds its way to him. Efron has certainly played his fair share of these types of characters while also showing off his comedic and dramatic chops. He can sing too if the role demands it Green Lantern: The Musical anyone?

Zac Efron's current track record isnt too different from that of Ryan Reynolds when he took on Green Lantern in 2011. He was Hollywood pretty boy best known for starring in rom-coms and action flicks before becoming the superhero. However, Reynolds take on Hal Jordan bombed and has been joked about for years, even by the actor himself in his most recent outing as Deadpool over the summer.

Green Lantern Corps is being penned and produced by Green Lantern comic book writer, Geoff Johns. While the film has a release date of July 24, 2020, Johns recent update stated the script was still in early stages of development. Considering the progression of the other DC 2020 releases, its doubtful Green Lantern Corps will be ready by then. Wonder Woman 1984 comes out on June 5, 2020 and has wrapped filming and Birds of Prey comes February 14, 2020 and has recently started principal photography.

So theres still plenty of time before a Hal Jordan is cast. Will it be Zac Efron? Other actors have been attached to casting rumors and/or put in the ring by fans are Tom Cruise, Armie Hammer and John Krasinski. Zac Efron has previously been rumored to star as Nightwing in the planned live-action for Dick Grayson, however the films director shut them down.

How Much Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Could Make During Its Second Weekend

After Jurassic World's rampage at the box office in 2015, we knew that its sequel would be big. Although it failed to match the performance of its record-breaking predecessor, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom debuted to a solid $148 million when it opened in theaters last weekend. But just like InGen scientists messing with things they ought not to, Fallen Kingdom isn't done, and it is poised for another winning performance at the box office this weekend. For its second frame, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is expected to bring in a respectable $60 million.

According to Deadline, it's estimated that Fallen Kingdom will drop 60% at the box office this weekend to come in at $60 million domestically. This would be a fairly standard second weekend drop for a blockbuster, although 2015's Jurassic World only dropped 49% in its second weekend. The two Jurassic World films now account for Universal's top two domestic openings of all time. Fallen Kingdom has collected $181.2 million over five days in domestic release. The film opened earlier overseas and per Box Office Mojo has earned $567 million so far for a current worldwide total of $748.14 million. J.A. Bayona's sequel film is well on its way to $1 billion and the three-comma club now, and it will inch ever closer this weekend.

Despite the drop off, $60 million will still be easily enough for number one at the box office, as a blockbuster of the size of Fallen Kingdom is given a fairly wide berth on the release calendar. Facing off with the Jurassic World sequel this weekend are a couple of interesting titles, but none that will have the kind of broad blockbuster appeal to dethrone the dinosaurs. Josh Brolin and Benicio del Toro return to the drug war for the R-rated Sicario 2: Day of the Soldado, which should match its predecessor, earning $12 million this weekend. Also opening, with predictions pegging it in the $11-$15 million range, is the PG-13 basketball comedy Uncle Drew.

So Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom has some runway to clean up with, including the July 4 holiday, before it faces real competition. The next big blockbuster is Ant-Man and the Wasp, which opens two weeks after the dinosaur flick on July 6. The microscopic heroes will almost certainly be the ones to topple the prehistoric leviathans, as tracking has Ant-Man and the Wasp opening at $75 million.
