See The Best Look At Pepper Potts Avengers: Endgame Transformation

Spoilers ahead for Avengers: Endgame

It's been two weeks since Avengers: Endgame hit theaters, and the events of the massive blockbuster are still being felt by moviegoers. The Russo Brothers exceeded all expectations, and put together a narrative that was deeply connected to the first 21 movies of the shared universe. Tons of characters were serviced throughout the course of the movie, especially during the final battle against Thanos and his forces.

When all seemed bleak and Captain America was getting beat down by Thanos, the fallen characters and various other Avengers allies appeared in the rubble of the facility, and turned the tides against the Mad Titan's army. This includes Gwyneth Paltrow's Pepper Potts, who made her debut in the very first MCU movie. Pepper suited up in her own armor for the battle, taking on the comic book mantle of Rescue. And now we can see our clearest look at the armor itself, thanks to Endgame concept art. Check it out.

I mean, how cool is that? Pepper's ascension to Rescue has been a long time coming, as she's previously worn Tony's Iron Man suit, and has engaged in a few battles throughout her tenure in the MCU. And that journey really paid off in Avengers: Endgame, as Pepper's time as an official combatant was truly epic.

Pepper Potts has a supporting role in Avengers: Endgame, popping up early in the film's runtime, watching in awe as Captain Marvel arrives on Earth with Tony and Nebula in tow. Throughout the film, she mostly stays at Tony's side, helping him get healthy in the Avengers Facility and eventually becoming a mother after the time jump.

The Rescue armor was teased shortly after the blockbuster's time jump, which introduced Tony and Pepper's daughter Morgan. Upon finding his daughter in a tent outside their new home, and she wearing the Rescue helmet. Tony jokes that Pepper never wears anything he gets her, an exchange that not-so-subtly set up Pepper's eventual fate during Endgame's third act.

Pepper Potts did some great work as Rescue in the final Avengers: Endgame battle, serving as both an attacker and protector of her fellow good guys. She also participated in the epic all-female moment, which saw the MCU's femme fatales team up to battle Thanos' forces. Pepper had already killed two Iron Man villains, so watching her become a genuine hero was massively satisfying.

In addition to her work as Rescue, Pepper Potts helped to move Tony Stark's narrative forward a few times throughout the course of Avengers: Endgame's runtime. For instance, she helped change Tony's mind about time travel. And most heartbreakingly, she mourned her husband in front of our eyes after he sacrificed his life to snap his fingers and destroy Thanos forever. While Gwyneth Paltrow has been part-time in the MCU in recent years, it was great to see her get so much screen time in Endgame.

Ben Affleck Explains Why Hes Leaving Batman Behind

The DC live-action universe has had a fascinating run theaters, full of peaks and valleys. While Warner Bros. is currently surfing the massive success of Aquaman, it's clear that the original plans for the DCEU are no longer coming to fruition. This includes Ben Affleck's role as Batman, as the Oscar winner has officially hung up the cape and cowl for good, following the disappointing performance of Justice League and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

This news was a major bummer for DC fans, who enjoyed the hulking and jaded energy that Ben Affleck brought to his version of Bruce Wayne. But once he dropped out as a director and then star of Matt Reeves' The Batman, thinks were looking bleak. Now Affleck has confirmed and explained his departure, saying:

I tried to direct a version of it and worked with a really good screenwriter but just couldn't come up with a version, couldn't crack it. And so I thought it was time to let someone else take a shot at it. They've got some really good people.

Turn off the Bat signal, because Ben Affleck's Bruce Wayne won't be answering the call anytime soon. He's officially left his superheroic role, making way for another director and actor to take the mantle and bring the Dark Knight to theaters with The Batman.

Ben Affleck's comments come from his recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, and is the first time he's spoken about leaving his DC role at length. While it was rumored for a number of months before this confirmation, the news will no doubt be disappointing for DC fans who appreciated what he brought to the role. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice might have been critically panned, but Affleck's performance was largely considered the saving point of the movie. He also popped up briefly in Suicide Squad, before taking on a larger role in Zack Snyder and Joss Whedon's Justice League. But after all three of those movies were poorly reviewed, it seems that Affleck was ready to say goodbye to the bat.

Fans were eager to see what Ben Affleck would as the director of a Batman solo flick, considering his long tenure as a filmmaker. But it appears that he simply couldn't figure out the right story to bring to the silver screen, which is why he ultimately stepped down and made room for Matt Reeves. And while he was originally going to star in the developing project, it was recently revealed that Reeves is bringing another actor in to play a younger version of Bruce Wayne for the noir-inspired blockbuster.

While Batman fans may be walking around with Sad Affleck faces, hope isn't lost for the character in the DC Universe. Matt Reeves seems to be moving forward with the development of The Batman, and Gotham City's finest will be a major focus with projects like Birds of Prey and Joker. Now we'll just have to see who ends up replacing Ben Affleck as the Dark Knight.

How Henry Cavills Mission: Impossible Character Changed During Filming

The following contains MAJOR spoilers for Mission: Impossible -- Fallout, so STOP READING if you haven't yet seen the newest Mission movie. And really, take the time to go see it!

In the latest Mission: Impossible, Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) is hot on the trail of a new threat known as the Apostles, led by the mysterious shadow agent identified only as John Lark. What Ethan doesn't realize, until it's almost too late, is that Lark is hiding in plain sight on Hunt's own IMF team... as we, the audience eventually figure out that Henry Cavill is John Lark, posing as CIA operative August Walker. This double cross requires that we go back and watch Mission: Impossible -- Fallout a second time, because once you realize Walker is dirty, you want to know how he manipulated Hunt without his own knowledge.

It also required that Henry Cavill stay light on his feet, as he told CinemaBlend that his character's methods and motivations changed frequently on set, as the screenplay shifted and shaped to meet new needs. Explaining the process of playing a double agent, Cavill confided to CinemaBlend:

There were a lot of questions throughout, because Walker evolved throughout the movie. He was a very liquid character in the sense that he started in one place and then changed to something else, and then changed to something else again, His motivation was shifting to fall in sync with how the script was evolving. And sometimes guided the evolution of the script.And so yes, Chris and I were constantly talking. And I was like, 'Cool, so, where am I going to from here? Am I doing this? Am I doing that? Is it because of this, or because of that?' And he said, 'Well, this may change, so yes. But it's also because of that. And what we shot there, it IS because of that, but in a different way to how it was before.'

It has been documented that Mission: Impossible -- Fallout went through script revisions over the course of its production, with Simon Pegg saying on record that they basically started filming without a complete script, and Christopher McQuarrie saying to CinemaBlend that the break in production forced by Tom Cruise's ankle injury allowed them the time to go over plot holes and properly fill them in. A lot of those changes rested on Henry Cavill's broad shoulders, as his character -- August Walker -- had the most to hide from Ethan Hunt, and he had to protect real secrets until the director chose to reveal them to the audience.

When we mentioned to Henry Cavill that rewriting his character on the fly must have been maddening for him, as an actor, he says that his complete trust in McQ allowed him to dive in with no reservations and find the performance that worked for the movie. Cavill admitted:

It wasn't so bad! I mean, I had absolute faith in McQ. He's an amazing writer, and an incredible director. And, he was doing both. And so I knew that he had his hand on the tiller firmly And it was going to be 100% fine.

Based on audience reaction to Mission: Impossible -- Fallout, it certainly DID turn out fine. The movie is critically acclaimed, with a staggering 98% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. And it set a new high bar for box office, enjoying the biggest opening in franchise history. The Terrifying Incident That Influenced Director Catherine Hardwicke's Approach To Miss Bala

One can assume that most movie-goers have all asked themselves the same question while watching an action film: what would I do if I were in that situation? Fantasy obviously doesnt equate to reality, and most would probably pray to simply never be in that kind of danger, but still the question crops up. For Catherine Hardwicke, director of the new movie Miss Bala, however, this isnt a hypothetical situation. She actually went through a situation audiences have seen thousands of times on the big screen and, editorially, her reaction was rather insane. She recently told me,

It was in LA in the middle of the day, and it was, I think, a gang initiation where somebody wanted my car - that I reacted in the wrong way to, but I lived. I just looked right at the gun, I was just shocked, and I go, 'Fuck off.' I don't know why I said that, right to the loaded gun. And it startled the guy so much that he sort of dropped his guard for one second, and then I just started walking. And, of course, the cop told me that is not the thing to do. Do not do that; give them the fricking car. I had a junker car anyway! But I didn't think that way. I was just defiant. I kind of knew in my heart that I was tougher than that guy was, and so I just went, 'Fuck off.'

I had the pleasure of sitting down with Catherine Hardwicke at the Los Angeles press day for Miss Bala, and this shocking story was delivered at the very end of the interview. Our time was running short, and I had already asked what was supposed to be my final question, but I couldnt help but follow up when the filmmaker told me that she personally had the experience of having a gun put in her face.

The subject came up in a more macro discussion of Hardwickes work as a filmmaker the kind of stories that she is currently interested in telling at this point in her career. She expressed that, rather than having anything to do with genre, what she wants to tell right now are stories that are driven by perspective, high stakes, and real choices. This was something she definitely got in the making of Miss Bala, headlined by Gina Rodriguez as a young woman named Gloria who winds up becoming a pawn in the operations of Mexican cartels and border crime.

According to Catherine Hardwicke, a big part of what helped her make the film as realistic as she could make it was putting herself in the shoes of her main character and it helped that she had some personal experience in the perilous moments department. It was at this point that she first told me about the time that her life was threatened during an attempted carjacking:

I just kinda try to see it as a real story. Like, what if this really happened to me? I mean, I've personally had a gun to my head. I've been in some pretty scary situations, so like I know how I reacted in certain cases. But most of us aren't tested on a daily basis. Like how would you react with life or death stakes? So it's fascinating to see that.

The intensity of having a gun pulled on you is intensified by a factor of 100 in Miss Bala a remake of the 2011 film from director Gerardo Naranjo. Gloria travels from her home in America to visit her friend in Mexico and help her try to win a beauty pageant, but things go horribly wrong when the protagonist is caught up in an assassination attempt while out at a night club. She is told that cooperating with the cartel that takes her captive is the only way to see her friend alive again, so she does what shes told all the while trying to figure out her way out of the situation.

In the making of the movie, Catherine Hardwicke says she loved not only watching the story unfold through Glorias eyes, but also constantly upping the stakes in the narrative. She explained,

I love the idea of what Gloria is going through too, you know, just how do I keep you in her mind, in her feelings? And then what would she do? How do you deal? How do I keep the camera relating to her and helping you feel what she feels In this case, the stakes just kept getting higher and higher, and ratcheting up for her. The second she gets out of one thing, oh hell, now she's got a bag over her head and the DEA wants her to work for them and she has to go back in as a double agent. Like holy shit, how would you deal with this?
