The New Aladdin Seems To Be A Big Hit With Fans, If Not Critics

Disneys second live-action remake of the year has hit theaters, which means both critics and audiences have finally had the chance to journey back into the Cave of Wonders. Turns out, Aladdin is a diamond in the rough that has caused quite the divide between the two groups of moviegoers.

While a vast majority of fans left the theater with their wishes granted concerning the live-action Disney epic, critics felt something to be desired from Aladdin. The Rotten Tomatoes audience score is currently at a near perfect 93%, while the Tomatometer has deemed the film rotten at 57%. So while the remake didnt quite impress reviewers, its a big win for those who bought a ticket to go see the Middle East set musical.

Additionally, Aladdin passed with flying colors with its "A" CinemaScore, which measures movie appeal by asking movie theatergoers their opinions on opening night. While one might argue those who went out and saw it on the first night it was out were the most excited and invested group to see it, high anticipation can also place a more critical eye on movies too.

Many critics didnt hate Aladdin, they just couldnt help but compare it to the 1992 original and be disappointed. After Will Smiths Genie previously received flack for his new look, many actually praised Smith as a high point of the film, along with the new Aladdin and Jasmine played by Mena Massoud and Naomi Scott. Perhaps the biggest criticism is toward Guy Ritchie being at the helm and the notable limit to its creative energy as CinemaBlends own Eric Eisenberg pointed out in his 2.5 star review.

Audiences were much more forgiving of Aladdin recycling from its previous iteration, and the film did bring plenty of new aspects for them to judge. The movie has an entirely new cast of actors, the live-action flair, new musical numbers, and laugh-out-loud improv scenes. The original film is almost 30 years old and may have benefited from its updating - such as Princess Jasmines new empowering song from the songwriters of La La Land and The Greatest Showman.

When you compare the Rotten Tomatoes score of the first film, the audience score is comparable at 92%, while the Tomatometer is just as complementary at 94%. The difference here being when Aladdin came out it was something much more original. Robin Williams iconic performance wasnt a common occurrence in animation films and Disney was in the middle of a Renaissance that would also produce favorites including Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid.

The new Aladdin is a bit more divisive between audiences and critics than 2017s Beauty and the Beast, even though both films recreated a beloved Disney musical with some similar methods. Beauty's Tomatometer score is 71% while its audience score is 80%. Perhaps critics have since grown tired of Disneys repeated live-action remake formula since then?

A Major Marvel Theory Just Got Shot Down By The Avengers: Endgame Trailer

After months of radio silence and endless fan theories, the first trailer for Avengers: Endgame is finally here. The Russo Brothers' phase-ending blockbuster will reveal the fallout after Thanos' finger snap of death (known as "The Decimation"), and the trailer teases a dark and emotional story largely revolving around the original Avengers.

That first trailer provided a handful of long awaited answers, including the fate of Hawkeye and the movie's official title. Endgame's first footage also shut down some popular fan theories, including a time jump. Specifically, that years might have passed, with Tony Stark and Pepper Potts possibly having a child of their own. Now that's been shut down, as the first trailer revealed that Endgame takes place only shortly after The Decimation occurred, and half the galaxy perished.

This fan theory's demise is a bittersweet loss. While it ruins the those narrative possibilities of a world rebuilt after half the life on Earth perished, it makes Avengers: Endgame's story all the more exciting. Thanos' mass murder is fresh on the minds of the surviving characters, and moviegoers will be privy to the immediate ramifications of their loss to the Mad Titan.

The opening moments of the trailer show just how immediate the affects of Infinity War are being felt, especially for Tony Stark. It looks like Iron Man (and probably Nebula) is stranded in deep space, after failing to stop Thanos during the battle on Titan. While Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Star-Lord, Drax, and Mantis faded to dust, Tony was left on the desolate planet with Nebula. And there's no tech on Earth that can rescue him.

The surviving Avengers on Earth were left counting their losses, of which there are many. Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner is seen taking it all in, as the faces of Spider-Man and Shuri were shown on screen. The remaining Avengers likely think that Iron Man also faded to dust, as they have no way of communicating with him in the far depths of space. Of course, Tony isn't the only presumed dusted character who will have a role to play in Avengers: Endgame.

Rumors about a possible time jump in Avengers: Endgame were at least partially empowered by the comments of Pepper Potts herself, Gwyneth Paltrow. The Oscar winning actress was quoted months ago talking about Pepper and Tony's long relationship, where she revealed they had a child. Obviously at least nine months would have needed to pass since we saw Pepper and Tony in Infinity War, although the trailer for Endgame now puts that statement into question.

The concept of time may end up being particularly relevant, as time travel has long been rumored for Avengers: Endgame. The key to that may be Paul Rudd's Ant-Man, who popped up in a delightful way in the final moments of the Endgame trailer. We'll have to see how his time in the Quantum Realm affected the comedic character.Avengers: Endgame will now arrive in theaters on April 26th. New Creed 2 Trailer Puts Michael B. Jordan And Sylvester Stallone At Odds

With the trend of nostalgia dictating the way movies and TV shows are produced, there are tons of reboots and long awaited sequels in the works. But some of these projects stand out among the rest, in both quality and box office performance. Chief among them is Ryan Coogler's Creed, which served as a spinoff for the massively popular Rocky franchise. It was a critical success, earning Sylvester Stallone an Oscar nomination in the process. Stallone, Tessa Thompson, and Michael B. Jordan are all returning for Creed II, and a new trailer has revealed more of the upcoming sequel's plot. It also featured Rocky trying talk some sense into Adonis. Check it out.

Does anyone else have chills? There are conflicts new and old coming from Creed II, and it looks like Rocky and his protege are going to be sitting on opposite sides of the aisle. At least for a while.

The Creed II trailer opens with the title character going through some new intense training montage, as Rocky looks on. After fighting in a homemade ring, Creed also stands as Rocky uses a medicine ball to essentially beat his student. It's unclear how or why these sequences occur, but they're a starting way to return to the franchise, and the characters audiences know and love. The sequence likely occurred in preparation for Creed II's big fight, which is set up in the rest of the trailer.

After losing his fight in the original Creed, Adonis is still struggling to find his place in the world. He and girlfriend Bianca Porter (Tessa Thompson) are living together, and even give birth to their first child. While the timeline is unclear (there's a shot of Bianca pregnant as well), this new sense of responsibility and familial connection is weighing on him, and forming some inner conflict about his chosen profession. Because with a family to think about, boxing suddenly becomes far more dangerous.

Unfortunately, Michael B. Jordan's character is going to be going up against an extremely brutal and dangerous foe in Creed II-- and one with an intimate connection to his past. He'll be facing Viktor Drago, the son of Dolph Lundgren's iconic character Ivan. Ivan Drago killed Creed's father, so the emotional stakes are going to be extremely high throughout the course of the film-- and especially the fight itself.

This connection to the past obviously affects Sylvester Stallone's Rocky, who also has his own relationship to Creed. Rocky saw Apollo Creed die in front of his eyes, and doesn't want to see the same from his son. Rocky Balboa knows the physical and emotional toll that boxing takes, and fears for Adonis' life. Viktor Drago is notoriously brutal and dangerous, and will likely take things too far within the ring.
