New Aladdin Clip Is Set Right Before A Whole New World'

Disneys live-action remake undertaking will soon continue with the release of a new Aladdin and fans are especially awaiting the new versions of the beloved songs from the 1992 animated musical. Is it from a new fantastic point of view? Check out this new look that sets up the highly-anticipated A Whole New World reimagining:

Swept away yet? The glimpse from Walt Disney Studios shows the beginning of Aladdin and Jasmines night before they board their magic carpet ride and break into song. Under the alias of Prince Ali, Aladdin is convincing the princess of Agrabah to leave her comfort behind the walls of the castle her confined world of books and maps and really go out and see the world with him. Before she can shoot out a round of excuses as to why she cant, he reveals his magic carpet and asks her if he trusts her.

Disney fans know the do you trust me? line is straight out of the animated film. In the original, Jasmine first meets street rat Aladdin who feeds the same quote. So when the princess hears this from Ali, she knows its the guy shed been crushing on from her rogue adventure outside the castle walls.

Its a sweet moment between the couple that is lovably reminiscent of the 1992 classic. Aladdin exudes confidence with his prince persona, as he offers to show her the world and the couple will soon break out into song. The clip ends conveniently right before the track begins, serving as the perfect tease for the upcoming live-action flick. I for one am happy they cut it where they did, a moment like this should be seen for the first time on the big screen.

The first Aladdin trailer did include a bit of the Whole New World song including the new vocals by Mena Massoud and Naomi Scott, but well likely have to wait until the movie hits theaters later this month before we see the full sequence.

Aladdin is a remake of the fairytale, this time with the Genie to be played by Will Smith. The actor will be adding his own comedic flavor to the film and rapping the characters signature track Friend Like Me. Smith recently paid a visit to Jimmy Fallon and spit a few bars and while its a departure from what we remember, its a fun new take on it.

The movie will also include two brand news songs, one another duet between Aladdin and Jasmine and the other a solo tune from Jasmine. Mena Massoud also recently teased an all-improv scene between him and Will Smith in the film.

After the under-performing result of Disneys last live-action offering Dumbo, Aladdin is tracking to have a more successful opening weekend during the Memorial Day holiday with four-day weekend projections between $85 million and $115 million.

BB-8 Puppeteer Wraps Star Wars: Episode IX After 5-Year 'Amazing Ride'

Is BB-8 saying goodbye for now or forever after Star Wars: Episode IX? It's the end of the new trilogy, but with Disney+ coming, and standalone movies hitting theaters, it's hard to imagine this is really The End.

Brian Herring is one of the puppeteers and lead performer behind BB-8. You may not think of the process that goes into creating the character, but it has been his life -- and his dream -- for the past five years. Now that many stars are wrapping their roles on Star Wars: Episode IX, Herring took a moment to thank the Lucasfilm team and look back fondly on his journey:

What a joy. Brian Herring joined the creature shop for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which was directed by J.J. Abrams. Abrams returned to direct Episode IX, which has yet to reveal its title. Herring's BB-8 was also part of the saga in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, directed by Rian Johnson.

Brian Herring also worked on other creatures in the Star Wars galaxy, including Porgs, Fathiers, and the sea cows Luke Skywalker milked. Herring shared BB-8 puppeteer duty with Dave Chapman. And did you know Bill Hader and Ben Schwartz were both credited as "BB-8 vocal consultants" in The Force Awakens?

Brian Herring has a great interview on StarWars.com from March 2018, talking about the differences as a puppeteer going from operating a droid puppet to operating an organic creature like a Porg. He also talked about why it's important to have the practical effects puppets versus just using CGI for the movies:

Practical effects on set, I think, are so important because the actors have something to react to, but also the audience can tell if somethings not there. [...] There was a shot in The Force Awakens, where Chewbacca is on the gurney and Finn is trying to help him and BB-8 comes in. And I whizzed it in at one point and I hit a crate and I said, "Sorry, JJ! I hit the crate." He went, Hit the crate every time you come in because it shows youre there. It shows youre real and people can invest more. You do get brilliant performances, like Gollum [played by Snoke actor Andy Serkis], where you have a human performance. And all these things work best when you have a performance at the heart of them. Thats not to say that the animators arent awesome at what they do, but even if they have to go in and fix it digitally later, they have something organic and its the imperfections that make things perfect.

Good points! BB-8 is not the only droid saying his goodbyes right now. Anthony Daniels just shared his own farewell, after playing C-3PO since the very first Star Wars movie back in 1977. But it's also not clear if his goodbye was for now or forever. After all, once Return of the Jedi completed the first trilogy in 1983, no one really saw six more movies coming to the big screen with the prequels and now this new trilogy.

Star Wars: Episode IX has yet to reveal its true title or any first look footage at this point, and we're not expecting tomorrow's Super Bowl to change that. So we wait. The movie arrives in theaters on December 20, as one of the many releases of 2019.

Will Captain Marvel Tie Back To Nick Furys Infinity War Pager?

Captain Marvel won't be making her debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe until her solo movie premieres in a few months, but we got an epic tease of her arrival last year in the final moments of Avengers: Infinity War. Featured in the post-credits, while there was incredible devastation happening all around on Earth, Nick Fury was able to send off a timely page to a potential savior, Carol Danvers, moments before his death.

We will get to see how the consequences of that scene will play out later this year when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters, but should fans expect to learn anything more about it in Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck's Captain Marvel? It's still a big hanging question, but producer Jonathan Schwartz had this to say when asked about it on set:

I think it's a combination of things. I think we will understand over the course of these movies why Fury makes the decisions that he does. He's always a mysterious guy, and he always has his own reasons, but hopefully we can clarify some of that for the audience.

Last summer I joined a small group of journalists to visit the set of Captain Marvel when it was still filming in Los Angeles, and it was at the very start of the day that we got to sit down with Jonathan Schwartz and get the basics of what to expect during the day. Naturally, one subject that came up was Nick Fury's pager (Avengers: Infinity War had been released about one month prior), and while the filmmaker didn't provide an entirely straight answer, he did offer one suggesting some interesting possibilities.

There has been a lot of speculation about Nick Fury's special 90s-era messaging device, and the assumption at large is that Fury set it up as a line of communication between himself and Captain Marvel just in case of a world-ending emergency that required her assistance (and it's specially outfitted with technology that gives it some extreme range). This in mind, one would think that a scene involving a discussion about the pager would be included in Captain Marvel, but that hasn't been entirely confirmed yet. At the very least Jonathan Schwartz's comments make it sound like it's something we could get to see.

It is worth noting that we do know there will be at least one pager featured in Marvel Studios' first female-led blockbuster. Nick Fury is briefly shown using and then holstering one of the devices in the first trailer for the movie, which debuted back in the fall. And for what it's worth, if you compare the below screenshot with the one above, you'll probably notice that they seem to be the same make and model.

All of this is a bit vague right now, but Marvel fans can breathe easy knowing that 2019 will be the year that all pressing Captain Marvel questions will be addressed. First we have the solo feature arriving in theaters on March 8th, and then Avengers: Endgame will be dropping into cinemas nationwide on April 26th. Should Avengers: Endgame Retcon The Death Of Killmonger?

The resurrection of Erik Killmonger is the latest of the Avengers: Endgame theories to hit the web, and it seems as though Marvel fans are predicting the Black Panther villain may return to the MCU. While Michael B. Jordan's reprisal of the role would make quite a few people happy, is this a supervillain death that should be reversed? There's certainly an argument to be made both ways, with strong points to be made both for and against this comeback.

The gut reaction for many may be yes, and it isn't hard to see why. Erik Killmonger was one of the most sympathetic and likable villains Marvel has created to date, which is really saying something. Erik's actions, while extreme, were layered behind a valid message that was easy to get behind. It seemed as though Black Panther laid the groundwork for him and T'Challa to have a lasting rivalry, only to kill him off by the film's end.

Bringing back Killmonger in Avengers: Endgame would be a huge twist, and a great way to reignite the tension between the two characters. Additionally, Killmonger would be a great asset to have in a fight against Thanos, provided he could be swayed to aide the heroes as opposed to taking another shot at capturing Wakanda. Plus, is there a better way to build hype for Black Panther 2 than by bringing back an A-lister like Michael B. Jordan?

When viewed through that lens, the answer seems clear. Bringing back Erik Killmonger sounds like a great idea on paper, and Marvel could eventually transform Michael B. Jordan's character into the villain you hate to love like Tom Hiddleston's Loki. It's a perfect idea, unless you're someone of the mindset who thinks dead characters should stay dead.

Let's face it, Marvel will find ways to bring back whatever characters it's killed off however it can. That's not always a bad thing, but in the case of Black Panther, it could really cheapen the impact of the end. Will T'Challa's killing of Killmonger feel as substantial to future generations if they already know he'll return in a future film?

There's probably a score of Loki fans right now shaking their heads no, and the Asgardian is certainly a poster boy of a character fans rally behind in life and death. That said, deception and trickery are Loki's M.O., and such shenanigans are to be expected from someone like that.

The same can't be said for the MCU's Killmonger, who embraced his fate in death rather than spending the rest of his days locked away in prison. There was something noble about that, and bringing him back to life, whether he chose for it to happen or not, diminishes his decision. I'm all for having Killmonger in Black Panther 2, but not if that presence does anything that lessens the impact of his death in Black Panther.

Additionally, there's really little reason for Killmonger to be alive in the MCU at this stage. In a world where Erik Killmonger returns, it would stand to reason T'Challa would as well. If both men are alive, T'Challa already revealed Wakanda to the world and set up programs in order to help underprivileged black children and families around the world. What does Killmonger do when his primary motivation for wanting to seize control of Wakanda is already a thing?

I would imagine he'd be up to a whole lot of nothing. His beef with T'Challa would be squashed, so what would he do then? A return into Wakandan politics seems unlikely given his failed uprising and the fallout from that, so he'd be brought back for the sheer novelty of doing so. A mellowed out Killmonger generally in support of where things are headed in Wakanda does not sound like the type of reprisal I'd like to see.

To be honest, I'm more curious to see what the future of the Black Panther franchise holds than I am seeing a fan-favorite villain back in the saddle. With all the work that went into establishing Wakanda and T'Challa in the first movie, the only direction this franchise should be headed is forward. That means new and exciting villains like Namor, and not more of the same just because it's the safer option.

Now, with that said, let's not forget that Avengers: Endgame could bring back Erik Killmonger as CBR theorized without time travel or retconning. There's a theory that Killmonger never died at the end of Black Panther, which means he could be kicking around somewhere in the new film just waiting to be found by the heroes.

This is a scenario I could get behind, mainly because it gives Erik Killmonger both direction and purpose if only for one adventure. Erik may be driven by his wish to see Wakanda returned to the state it was in prior to Avengers: Infinity War. Granted, this is a stretch given the villain looked super dead in Black Panther's final moments, but Wakandan technology is pretty advanced, so maybe T'Challa did something immediately after to save him?

Perhaps the strongest argument one could have against a Killmonger return is what would change if he stayed dead? The Black Panther franchise isn't hurting for villains, and it'd be one less talented actor on the Disney payroll that has to make scheduling these ensemble events nothing short of a nightmare. Having Michael B. Jordan back in the MCU would be nice, but it's also completely unnecessary.

One thing few will dispute is Michael B. Jordan's portrayal of Killmonger was one of the best on-screen performances we've seen of a Marvel villain to date. It's why there's a community of folks hoping desperately he'll re-emerge in Avengers: Endgame, and why there's a community of those hoping the exact opposite. We'll have to wait and see what will actually happen, of course, and we can only hope that however this pans out, audiences are ultimately pleased with what happens.
