No, Indiana Jones 5 Does Not Begin Filming Next Week

In the last four years, moviegoers have reunited with Han Solo and Rick Deckard, two of Harrison Fords most popular characters. And the actors not done with this nostalgia tour just yet, as hes been attached for years to reprise Dr. Henry Jones Jr. in Indiana Jones 5. That said, contrary to recent news, the next installment of the whip-wielding archaeologists franchise will not begin filming later this month.

In case you missed it, last week Harrison Ford appeared alongside Mark Hamill, George Lucas and Billy Dee Williams at the grand opening of Star Wars: Galaxys Edge at Disneyland, during which time he also spoke with Variety and said that Indiana Jones 5 will begin shooting sometime next week. This was a surprising update, to say the least, as Indiana Jones 5 isnt scheduled for release until 2021, and usually there's chatter months ahead of time on when a movie will specifically begin filming.

However, Variety has now updated Harrison Fords quote, which now says that Indiana Jones 5 will begin shooting sometime next year. Its unclear if this misunderstanding is the result of a transcription error or if Harrison Ford misspoke and a Disney representative cleared up the matter (Im guessing the latter), but either way, were still aways away from Indiana Jones 5 rolling cameras. Ford also said the following about the highly-anticipated movie:

Im looking forward to it. Things are coming along well.

It is worth remembering that Indiana Jones 5 was initially slated to come out much earlier. Back in 2016, Walt Disney Studios scheduled it for July 19, 2019, so had the studio stuck with that plan, wed be only a little over a month away from seeing Harrison Ford don the fedora again. Then in 2017, Disney pushed Indiana Jones 5 to July 10, 2020, and then in 2018, it was pushed back once more to its current July 2021 slot due to script rewrites.

Its entirely possible that Indiana Jones 5 could be delayed yet again, but for now, it appears production will commence next year. By the time the movie comes out, it will have been 13 years since we last saw Harrison Ford play Indiana Jones, which was in the fan-derided Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

No plot details have come out for Indiana Jones 5, although it has been confirmed that Shia LaBeouf will not reprise Mutt Williams, a.k.a. Henry Jones III. The last big update on the movie came last week, when it was revealed that This Is Us Dan Fogelman was tackling the latest draft of the script.

As for the future of the Indiana Jones franchise after Movie #5, Harrison Ford made it perfectly clear that he doesnt want anyone else playing Indy after hes finished. Theres been talk in the past about Chris Pratt taking on the role, and Ford even told someone to break the bad news to Chris Pine, whos played Jack Ryan, another role that used to belong to Ford.

Itll be a long time before we learn if an Indiana Jones 6 is a possibility, if the franchise will be rebooted or perhaps, as rare as this happens nowadays, if no more Indiana Jones movies will be made. For now, fingers crossed that Indiana Jones 5 at least delivers a worthwhile conclusion for Indy, or at least one better than Kingdom of the Crystal Skull delivered.

Spoilers ahead for Avengers: Infinity War.The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a fascinating place right now. The events of Avengers: Infinity War changed the shared universe forever, as a ton of heroes and villains fell to Thanos' horrifying wrath. The future of the MCU after Avengers 4 is largely a mystery, and there have been plenty of ideas thrown around for the next Phase of films. One of the most common rumors is an all-female Marvel movie, which was reportedly pitched to Kevin Feige by a bunch of the stars at a party. Now the fans have gotten together and made a poster featuring the MCU's femme fatales, and it's absolutely awesome. Check it out.

While this post might be a result of photo shop and promo images, seeing the shared universe's female characters united in one shot is enough to get even the most casual fanboy excited.This new image comes to us from Reddit, where user evokkin uploaded a poster for the fictional Marvel movie A Force. Using the Avengers logo and promo photos from the MCU's recent movies, all of the female heroes are united, including newcomers The Wasp and Captain Marvel. There have slowly been more dynamic female characters introduced into the MCU, so they could definitely carry a movie. Of course, it's unclear exactly who will survive after the events of Avengers 4.Because while Marvel fans were expecting a few characters to die during Avengers: Infinity War, moviegoers were shocked to see Josh Brolin's Thanos actually succeed on his mission. After accruing all of the Infinity Stones, Thanos was able to wipe out half the galaxy with the snap of a finger, leaving just a handful of heroes in the wake of his destruction. If many of these ladies have any chance of crossing over, the remaining Avengers are going to have to find a way to reverse Thanos' snap somehow.Thanos' plans for destruction aside, women in the Marvel Cinematic Universe have taken a much larger role in Phase Three. Plenty of newcomers debuted, with Mantis joined Gamora in the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Valkyrie being introduced in Thor: Ragnarok, and Okoye stealing scenes in Black Panther and Infinity War. The Wasp officially became a hero with this weekend's Ant-Man and The Wasp, and Captain Marvel will come next to bring Brie Larson's Carol Danvers to the shared universe. With Black Widow looking to finally get her own solo movie as well, it's clear that the future of Marvel is female.While the above poster might be awesome, it's unlikely that an all-female Marvel blockbuster would actually come to fruition. In addition to being a logistical nightmare, there's probably no logical narrative way to set it up. But the various franchises have collided through Infinity War and presumably Avengers 4, so there's no telling what's in store for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Classic Super Troopers Jokes Broken Lizard Had To Reference In Super Troopers 2

Almost two decades after the Vermont State Troopers became cult comedy icons in Super Troopers, the Broken Lizard guys are about to get back into the action. Super Troopers 2 will appropriately debut this weekend on April 20, which means the time has come to start looking back on some of the most famous jokes from the original. To help accomplish that goal, CinemaBlend recently sat down with Broken Lizard to talk about some of the gags that they knew they would have to call back to in their latest film. Among the favorites were the "liter of cola," "shenanigans," and The Cat Game. Broken Lizard explained:

Steve Lemme: Liter of cola and the chicanery shenanigans callback had to go.Jay Chandrasekhar: And meow.Erik Stolhanske: We had to do a meow.Paul Soter: It had to be something with meow.

That only scratches the surface of the number of classic jokes from the original Super Troopers, but it's definitely an excellent greatest hits compilation. The 2001 original has become legendary for the sheer number of quotable gags that it produced when it first debuted (particularly in the classic opening traffic stop), and those are some of the ones that get attention in the belated sequel.

Of course, The Cat Game (featuring a cameo by comedian Jim Gaffigan) is a particular fan-favorite element of the original Super Troopers. If you have never seen it (or need a refresher course), then check it out, below.

With all of that said, the intention of these callbacks was never to just retell the same joke from Super Troopers in Super Troopers 2 without making any changes to the material. The second film takes the titular cops to "bust heads on the highway" to a new locale by sending them to a contested part of the border between the United States and Canada, which means the jokes get to take on new lives by focusing on the culture clashes between the countries. The Broken Lizard guys continued in our chat and briefly touched on how they used the sequel to make meta-comments on some of the best Super Troopers jokes. As Kevin Heffernan explained:

Kevin Heffernan: I think with all of them it had to have a little spin on it. You couldn't do the exact same joke. I was glad we found ways to spin, like the meow joke.Paul Soter: The meow bit is kind of meta. The shenanigans equals chicaneries was a funny sort of parallel universe joke. So yeah, each one tried to have some other personality to it.
